Question about Singer 7436 - INGENUITY
I made buttonholes one time and it worked perfectly. Following the exact same steps, all I get is a beep from the computer and it will not sew. Take it off buttonhole stitch and it works fine. Please help.
I have found that the problem lies with the button hole pull down. Either it is too far down, or too far up. The problem that I have with it now is that it will never sew the button holes consistantly. I will set it where the button hole needs to be, and it will then proceed to place it where it wants to. Any help on this problem?

Re your buttonhole foot - please note the following:
- This foot comes with a metal underplate.
- Place the fabric between the foot and the underplate.
- I am assuming that you have the buttonhole lever pulled down.
-Note: The silver coloured buttonhole lever is directly behind the needle threader. Pull it all the way down.
-When u have all the above in place, start the buttonhole. When it finishes the first side, gently push the foot back, so it reverses. I know this sounds strange, but if you have slightly bent the underplate you will need to do this.
- The directions are in the manual on page 60.
