Question about Coby MPC895 MP3 Player
They don't have my exact product listed on here, but it's a Coby
MPC7095 2 GB mp3 player. I got my Coby for Christmas, and it was
working perfectly for a few weeks. Well, one night I wanted to burn a
cd. The music I wanted was on my Coby, but my normal computer doesn't
burn cds. So I plugged it into my laptop, and it erased everything. Now
every time I turn it on after the initial start up screen, it flashes
"File Sys Err" for about 3 seconds. I've reformatted it and reset it
countless times. I've tested it by trying to upload a song to it. The
player shows the song on the menu, but when I go to play it, it doesn't
do anything. Then, once I turn it off and back on, the song is gone and
it flashes "File Sys Err" at me again. The odd thing is, even when it's
screwed up, the radio works fine. I haven't tried recording anything,
because I'm sure it would get deleted, but I don't know what to do
anymore. Any help here?!
For me just formating wasn't possible it also showed a size of 130GB instead of 4GB.
I had to "zero" the whole stick in linux with
dd if=/dev/usbdevicename of=/dev/null
After that I could create a new partion and format the stick.

I have the 4GB version (non-FM) and it's having the same issues. I reformatted mine to the NTFS filing system in hopes of uploading my songs faster since these players run on FAT32, but reformatting it to any file system other than FAT32 will cause it to give a File System Err notice on your player. I would suggest reformatting it to FAT32 using your computer. There are resources available everywhere online that shows you how to do this.
