Try unplugging your modem and router and then plug them back in. This will refresh your settings. May work.

It just keeps saying an error occurred during the communication with the server, this is a DNS error(80710102)..what do i do someone please help me????

I suspect a poor connection problem at the ethernet cable into the ps3.Push on this cable and the light should blink fast not slow.It worked for me after trying all sorts of remedies off the net that didnt help.As soon as i pushed the cable and held it there while re doing my network connections/test everything "succeeded" including system update.I let the cable go, and sure enough,"no ethernet cable connected"message and no internet connectivity!!! Havent fixed the connection yet as off to work, but now i know where the problem is. Hope this helps.

Connect ps3 to laptop via web and walk

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Thanks!

Same problem as everyone else :"DNS error and some numbers"

Go to internet settings and manual set up then try these dns settings.

primary dns 4.2.2.2
secondary dns 4.2.2.1

~I find i dont always need to use the secondary one.

hope this helps :)

Connects but no internet connection being allowed through.

You should configure your Router as a "router" or as a bridge. Usually, you can access the router's IP via web service (using http://ip.address.of-this.router). In this web access, you can modify your router configuration to act as router or bridge, also you have to specify the DNS, DHCP configuration as well.
Maybe with posting your Type of router, i could help you more with it...

check your pc they will be there Winxp users go to Control panel open network connections then open local area connection click on properties scroll down to Internet protocol (TCP/IP) hightlight it and click properties, your dns settings should be there!

Or Contact your service provider for the DNS settings!

My ps3 wireless internet connection wont work!

Ok, sometimes consoles dont like to be on the same network as other devices so it causes Ip and DNS conflicts. You just need to play around with the settings till it works.

Need help with ps3 internet hook up

The ps3 wifi is very finicky --
While the ps3 scans for a hotspot turn the router off then on so the router aquires the ps3.
Goto settings
Goto network settings
Goto network connection, select enable
Goto Internet connection settings just below internet connection-
Push yes when it says you may be disconnected
Select wired or wireless
For wireless use scan or enter manually
Follow on screen instructions.
Once that is set up return to main menu and go to network near the right
Then once in the internet browser press triangle and goto file and enter the internet address you would like visit.
If all else fail use the ethernet cable to attach it to your laptop. Then run network setup on the laptop and add the ps3.
