Question about ECM Giotto Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Air pressure excessive

Our machine previously showed 1 Bar of pressure when ready. Now if unattended air pressure will rise about the warning red line, and will eventually expel pressure and kick off the wall circuit breaker.

What needs to be replaced?

That's a valve that's in line with the internal plumbing..that's all that restricts that pressure, which can build quite high.

can you provide the exact model number, please?

ok..that's the ticket..there's a pressure valve that regulates the pump pressure, that apparently is no good. Do you have a service plan?

the part is self is not too hard to find. Perhaps, you might consider trading it in for a newer model, or finding a local service person that still works on the older machines(hint: find someone that has more than 5 years of background , eh)?

if you want to do it yourself, then you'll need a full parts and service manual

My coffee machine after few cups show me AIR BREAK message on display?

More information about your specific model would be a huge aid to helping solve the problem. Some types of issues are following:
Air break Error.
Water failure.
Water did not fill the Air Break
(plastic water tank) within its
given time limit in the software.
1.Water inlet valve failed
2.Anti flooding device has water in it.
3.No power to the inlet valve.
4.Low water pressure to the unit.
5.Water supply is turn off.
The air-break is a functional unit that has the function of keeping the water level constant and to have signal
indicating the lack of water from the mains. The water level is ensured by a float that triggers a microswitch, keeping the level between a factory set minimum and maximum

Bosch Tassimo TAS4513UC 1-Cup Coffee Maker manual

I looked up your problem and found the same one was answered previously on fixya. I have copied and pasted the previous answer here for you. Good luck and I hope you have a great day!
After many months, I solved the problem of the red light staying on the Tassimo Coffee Maker. Use these easy steps.
1. Fill a 2 cup measuring cup with hot water.
2. Mix in descaler.
3. Pour in the empty water tank.
4. Put the yellow cleaning disk in the chamber and close chamber. Put the two cup measuring cup under the spout.
5. Push and hold the brew button for about 3 seconds (until the red and green light flash.
6. Now don't touch the machine. It will do it's thing for about 20 minutes. (Don't be impatient and start to push buttons, just leave it)
7. When it finishes it's cycle. The red light will turn off. Then clean the water tank and put fresh water and run clean water through the brewing cycle 4 times. Your machine is now ready for use.

LPG operated usually fine but drops pressure after a couple of hours continous use in our coffee van. Pressure will rise again after 10 mins or so. How do we stop this from happening? Jan

You can do one or two things;
1 - Increase the pressure stat to 1.3 bar,
2 - Raise the water level in the boiler for more thermal mass so that you do not lose as much heat when the machine adds water to the boiler.

My B70 just starts running water through and doesn't stop till it's drained the reservoir...Any clues?

I have taken the beast apart and watched it successfully cycle and fail to cycle.

Warning!!! (DO NOT TRY DIS-ASSEMBLY IT UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND RECOGNIZE THE COMPONENTS, You could electrocute yourself and suffer nasty permanent scaring... ouchie!)

I discovered the same as another person claimed a "check value" and/or air leak/lockup. The pump cycles, but can't get water so the machine shuts down to prevent over-heating. (The dreaded "Not Ready").

1. Turn off the machine and unplug until it is completely cooled, say 4 hours. (Allows for temperature equalization of the water chamber and the water supply)

2. Completely fill the water reservoir. (The extra water just helps the pump break the air lock).

3. Turn the machine on and wait for the pump to start drawing water.

4. Immediately knock 1-3 times on top of the water reservoir/machine (at the very top of the machine) about as hard as would knocking on a door. (Watch the water level, it should immediately start to drop)

The pitch of the pump should change when the water begins to be drawn into the heating chamber. (you can also hear the water flowing)

The problem is caused by air entering the water supply system. This air provides a "lock" on the system that the pump can't overcome. This can happen due to a number of issues but most issues should be this easy fix.

The machine refills itself 3 times. At Power-on, at beginning of the brew cycle and after the brew cycle.

Watch the machine and any time the pump cycles make sure it draws in water until it shuts down, if it doesn

The red Water warning light keeps blinking, even there is enough water supply.

It means ventilate, purge the air out of the system by turning on the knob, the pump should run .Keep it running until the red light stops blinking. If not there's a blockage in the line.

Steam problem

If the milk scalds, you're getting it hot enough. It sounds like you're not incorporating enough air into the milk when frothing.
Make sure that the holes in the tip of the steam wand are clear. Soak in water for 5-10 min. and wipe with a cloth (no abrasives) and clear the holes with a paper clip end. Blow the wand out nice and hard.
How is your steam pressure? It should be about 1.2 bar.
It could also be your technique. The wand should never be more than 3 cm into the milk. For cappuccino froth, keep the tip right at the surface of the milk, lowering the pitcher as the level rises. You should hear a "shushing" sound, no squealing.

Good luck!
