The 9420 visioneer Scanner driver will run the 8900 scanner.
first,go to visioneer and download the .MSI file for the 9420. Run it. The driver files will be found in directory: C:\Visioneer\OneTouch 4.0\9420 Drivers.next, find the 8900 drivers.they will be in c:\ Windows\twain_32\vizscan8xxx. open the file and look for rtscan.dll Rename it old rtscan.dll.if you can't find them, either use Device manager to show you where they are. or you can reinstall the Driver(Xp\2000\Me\Win 89 from Visioneer site. Rename the rtscan.dll file which will be in the twain_32 folder(see above).
copy all the files in 9420 Driver file to the c:\Windows\twain_32\vizcsan8xxx folder. turn your scanner on.windows should find the drivers and install the scanner.
If it is a usb device and it doesn't sees it ..just change the port until it sees it ... Another thing to do is to go to control panel and run the add new hardware wizard...You can run the driver first to be sure it is in the system and after that run the wizard ..., but in a normal way it should see the usb unknown device and try to install it auto... if it is not a usb device ..just connect it ...go to device manager by right click on the My computer icon ...properties./hardware /device manager ....here you should see the printer in yellow color and with a ask sign meaning that its missing the driver ...If you do not see it ...just right click on computer in D manager ///and choose scan for hardware changes..it should bring it to sight .. after that right click ..and update driver ...if the driver s not an installer just browse from the update driver wizard to the location of the folder with the driver and it will take it ... let me know if it is anything else...BY the way ..be sure the printer it is powered and on...before trying to install it ...otherwise it will not see it .. Have a nice day and please do not forget to rate if it was helpful...
There is not a driver available for Windows 7. One thing you can try is to run the software in windows XP compatibility mode if your version of Windows has it. When you go to run the software disc for the scanner goto my computer and right-click on the icon then click properties. You can then set the compatibility mode to run on XP. Then run the software by double left click on the icon after you have set the compatibilty mode for XP. I cannot guarantee this will work but it is worth a try. If you download the software to the desktop the process is the same.
Below is a link to the list of the only scanners that VISIONEER has written a Vista driver for(and not likly to write any more for former scaners.) Your model in not on that list. Unless, for some reason , they decide to write a Vista driver, you will never bve ableo to use that scanner with the Vista OS. No one else will ever write one either.
Please don't rate me badly for telling the whole truth even thought you may not like it.
The below link is where I took the followign from:http://support.visioneer.com/UK/products/tools/OS/
As Microsoft continues to release new versions of it's Windows Operating System, the requirements for peripherals and software change. Visioneer scanners are designed to leverage the tools and features included with the operating systems that are current when products are released. When feasible, we develop scanner drivers for new versions of Windows. On the day Windows XP was released, Visioneer had more scanners qualified to wear the Designed for Windows XP logo than any other scanner maker. In spite of our best efforts, major changes in the underlying architecture of Windows XP make it impossible to write new drivers for many of our older model scanners.
Visioneer posts the last release of drivers on each Product's Homepage and provides online support for older products. Scanners designed to work with older versions of Windows may not function properly after upgrading your computer's operating system.
We offer an industry leading upgrade program, giving a 25% discount from our online scanner store for customers that return their old unit to ensure proper disposal as part of our environmental recycling program. For details visit Visioneer's Trade Up Offer.
