Brushes not rotating on hoover f7425-900 steamvac v2

Purchased and installed new brushed as the cog spindle was broken off. However still does not turn brushes. Appears cob spindle is not being turned by female connector in main unit. Rest of steamer works, i.e. water spray and return vacumn. is there a belt and or motor that needs to be looked at, no apparent entry to see.

Responses were helpful but unfortunely I was not abel to fix it from them. so, I have taken it to a dealer and see where things go.

Sorry to share this but the same thing happened to me. I had a Hoover dealer check it and was told that the turbine seemed OK (that would cost over $100.00) but that the motor was bad and the repair would cost over $150.00 to repair.

So the 1 1/2 year old Hoover machine is at the curb waiting, as it should, for Garbage Day!

took the turbine off and and found the problem. The bearing and the shaft was frozen solid so i decided to soak in oil to get it off. I hope this works. In addition, is there anybody out there who knows how to re-install the red brush control switch on the cover of the unit when put back together?

I had the same problem and it was inside the turbine assembly. If you take the turbine assembly off the machine and open it up, you will see the turbine blades on one side and the reduction gears on the other side. The problem on mine was a needle bearing sandwiched between two washers on the reduction gear side. This bearing/washer stack is the stabilizer for the turbine gear shaft. Mine was rusted solid. I removed the washers and bearing and cleaned them up with a wire wheel being careful not to lose any of the tiny needles. Once evrything was rust-free, I reset the needles with grease and sandwiched the bearing between the washers. I then reinstalled this stack back in the case along with the other gears, regreased everything, and buttoned it up. Brushes are spinning better than they have in a long time.

The turbine is what turns the brushes, they get gummed up is one problem when they don't work.. Most times they get replaced. You have to take the top noozle off to get to the turbine.

My brush bar keeps falling down. We replaced motor but now the brushes don't spin.

Hi! If you've replaced the turbine & gear assembly and the brushes are still not spinning, a replacement brush-block assembly may be needed. The brushes counter rotate and need each other to spin. If a single brush is falling out, the brush assembly is broken. If the whole brush assembly keeps falling out, the drive pin shaft may be damaged. To order a replacement brush-block follow the link below.

Brushes don't rotate during floor cleaning

Check that no strings or other debris is clogging the brush wheels. If it isnt that check that the belt isnt broken connecting the brush to the motor. If that is ok, most likely the motor is blown and not turning the belt.

How to disassemble the hoover steam vac2. the hole that the brushes snap into does not rotate so the brushes are not rotating

The hole the brush shaft goes into is the turbine that turns it. If it will not turn it is seized and should be replaced.

Hoover F7458-900 SteamVac The brushes quit

My Hoover F7458-900 was doing the same thing, brushes not turning and since it is about 7 years old and out of warrenty I decided I had nothing to lose so I took it apart after reading all the other posts on this problem. The brushes are actually turned by a turbine motor (no belts involved) that runs off air produced by the vaccum motor of the unit. The air turns a metal spindle that then turns several nylon gears in the turbin the last of which turns the brushes. The nylon gear that engages with the metal spindle was worn down to the point that it was no longer engaging with it and thus not turning.
The only fix for this problem is to buy a new turbin motor which is not that expensive about $34 plus shipping since they don't sell just the nylon gear. Hope this helps

Hoover steam vac model f7425-900 filter is

The brush system on this model has a poor engineering design in that the brushes are running off an air turbine, which uses a steel bushing to spin the turbine which gets rusty from the moisture when the machine is being used. No long term solver. I would replace the machine with a Dirt Devil Platinum Force model

The brushes stopped turning. I cleaned the filter

Can you rotate the brushes manually (grab some of the yellow bristles and rotate the brushes). If they are not jammed, then your air fan drive is clogged or broken. Air must pass through the fan to spin the brushes... so confirm air flow by powering the machine on and feeling for decent air flow. Clear any obstructions that my restrict air flow....

My brushes don't rotate on the on position. I have a SteamVac V2.

Do you hear the motor for the beater bar brush running? If so, you'll probably need to replace the brush drive belt.. If not.. you may have a broken wire suppling power to the brush motor.. or the switch is bad.. Hope that helps..
