    hi chris

yes it is a dvd recorder with freeview built in .it is a wharfedale DVDRHD400F it is connected with a scart socket to the tv, the machine worked fine when i first got it a year ago. and it is only connected to the tv. i was wondering if the cause could be that i unplug the machine from the wall socket each night (old habit) may have caused it

I have the same problem - no sound on freeview. Connected to TV via scart. There is sound on DVD and on HDD recordings made before the problem arose. Have tried resetting factory defaults and downloading updated software. Have also tried hard reset but couldn't achieve this! If its a settings problem, I can't work out how to fix it! Anyone got any ideas, please?

    Hi Colin.

This does sound like you have A fault with the Freeview side of your machine.

Its A long shot but you could try down loading any new up dates by going in to the menu on the freeview side of your machine.

Im not at all familiar with your machine but will make some enquiries on your behalf & post anything I find out.

    Regards Chris..

I have just bought a Digihome pvr320sd tv recorder with freeview, can i set it up as a tv recorder only without the freeview as i already have built in freeview on my tv.

When you set up the recorder Freeview stations will be stored. This means that you can record TV stations without watching them. So you can say watch BBC1 on your TV and record a program on Channel Four. You need the recorder set up with Freeview to recorder channels. Otherwise you would have to have your TV on and recorder set to record via the scart lead. Which would be not great quality and messy.
You should be able to loop the aerial lead so that both the TV and recorder can get the signals from your aerial, if that's what is bothering you.

LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... I have a Philips DVD Rcorder How can I record a programme but watch another one at the same time. Has Freeview installed.

When you have programmed the DVD to record a channel, you can only watch another channel from your TV's channels, or a second freeview box.

The DVD recorder can only be set to one channel at a time, even though it has separate analogue & digital tuners.

Recording and viewing different channels

The EX75 has only one tuner circuit, so you can't watch a different channel from the one you're recording. To do this you will either need a set-top box for Freeview or a Freeview compatible TV.

Wharfedale DVDR24HD250 DVD Recorder When set up will not find any programmes on Automatic Programme Search (APS)

Products such as this will use an internal tuner to tune channels, this tuner will not detect your televisions freeview stations, to record from your television, connect scart out from tv to the scart in on the recorder, then select the scart A/V channel, use the television to select the channel you want to record, you will not be able to record 1 freeview channel and watch another freeview chanel as you only have 1 digital tuner (in the television) the recorder does not have freeview built in.. hope that helps

RECORDING PROBLEM

Connectivity problem. Without knowing your models and their available channels etc., it's very difficult to advise you exactly.
Broadly though ...... you need to get the input signal routing sorted.
Plug your aerial into the Freeview box. Make a connection from its RF out, (beside the aerial 'in' socket) to the aerial 'in' socket on the JVC. Run yet another co-axial connection from the JVC RF 'out' to the television.
Now - connect a scart lead between the JVC and the TV. Power off the freeview. Switch your TV to accept A/V - to show the JVC on screen. Read/go through the 'Set up' procedure on the JVC to scan in the available broadcast channels. When done - connect using a scart between the Freeview box and the JVC. This will be located on either the L1 or L2 channel selection.
IF as it seems you are using the freeview to watch all your programmes - and record in then you are simply watching and recording 'live' change the Freeview programme and the JVC gets that same one arriving in (and sending to the TV)
Unless you need to record Freeview only output - always record from the aerial input. You select via the television remote (and 'TV' selected) and the appropriate channel.
Complex to explain - hope it helps. The one thing to remember - is to make one set of changes at a time - check the result is okay, before moving to the next.
