When I play Cod4 i have a problem when I join a game. Nearly everytime I join a game, while its setting up, I just get the "setting up game" message and it will not let me in the game. Does anyone know how I might fix this?

There have been connection issues with game ranger since its inception,in `03.It has fallen out of favor with most gamers and is very unstable on 7.Your best bet is to reboot your rig before every section.Restart the game ranger a few times when rebooted then try to play.In my personal experience x-fire works much better.Sorry I can offer no fixes and game ranger wont any time soon.
If you are stuck on the Downloading game settings screen after clicking Find Game, this may be the fix for you. I did this on my PS3 and it worked.
1) Go into network settings and then make sure everything is custom, no automatic.
2) Find the IP address for the PS3. This is the problem!
3) Set the IP address to 192.168.1.100. If COD4 does not work, change the 100 in the IP to a higher number (101,102,103 etc.) (The closer to 100, the better.) Then try again.
This simple thing worked for me, and should work for you. Reason: Most online games use the IP address from the PS3, but COD4 doesn't. The designers of the game made it so that COD4 scans for its own IP address. It scans from 192.168.1.100 up and that's why if you CAN get COD4 to work with the Downloading Game Settings box, it takes an hour. By changing it to ....100 you are forcing COD4 to choose that IP address which is the fastest one.
1-turn off game console..............2-disconnect router for 20 seconds then reconnect............3-turn on game console..............4-go to setting click on network setting.................5-go to internet connection and press X and disable the connection wait 10 seconds and renable the connection and cod4 should work fine on line.............................

Right, lay your Xbox360 down dont keep it upright, try installing COD4 to your hard drive then once installed go into you game library and click on cod4 and click play from hard drive ( and if you dont know how to install games to the hard drive make sure your xbox isnt on automatic start when a disc is inserted and put the disc in and when it says play cod4 press Y and then click install to hard drive) hope this helped....
Is your Internet connection able to Reach to the Xbox 360?? If it is then you probably have to try asking a friend to join your game to see if it works. If it doesn't work then try moving the Xbox 360 closer to your Wireless Connection. O Btw... People dont always join your games.
On the Ps3 that isn't working, go into the settings and see if there is something under it that is prevent invitations or friend requests. It will probably be under parental controls or network settings. If someone else hosts the game can that Ps3 join. Also try and get the messed up one connected by ethernet cable and not wireless, it may be cutting out as there are 3 ps3's and probably multiple computers hogging the signal.
