The protect message indicates that a problem was deteceted inside the machine. normally this means that the output amp has a problem. Please post the model number of the receiver or amplifier and I'll post additional details. Also, this problem is currently listed under DVD players. I believe that this should be under receivers. If you can, please move this discussion to the correct category.
Thanks,
Dan

Why is my hifi saying push power protect

Probably some condition caused your system to enter protect mode. You are being prompted to push something, perhaps a circuit breaker, to restore normal operation.

Hello.. I have Sony MHCEX500 MINI HIFI Component system. There is a problem of PUSH POWER PROTECT. How can I fix it..????

The "PROTECT" and "PUSH POWER" messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. Press the POWER button on the unit to turn off the system, and check the following items after "STANDBY" disappears.

1) Are the + and - speaker cords short-circuited?
2) Are you using only the specified speakers?.
3) Is anything blocking the ventilation holes of the system?

I have a Sony TA AV411 Amplifier and some component parts, cd player, radio, etc. It worked great one day and the next all the power was there but there was absolutely no sound. No static, no hum,...

Most likely the unit is in protect mode. See the link below for an explanation of this. For your specific unit, the output section is discrete which means that the parts cost is likely in the $50-$60 range for the repair.

Please update this if you have any further questions.

Dan

Hi, whenever i am trying to power ON my hifi...i'm getting a message error on the display screen ''PUSH POWER PROTECT'...flashing continuously. please can anyone advise what should I...

This indicates that you have a blown output amplifier or shorted speaker wire. Disconnect all the speaker wires and try to turn it on once more. If it shows the same display give it to a service
