Jackjack,
I have the same problem and decided to tackle the issue based on what I have read on-line. I wasn't convinced it is the "drain plug" because I cannot find this plug and confused how it works in the side by side.
What I did find though when I took the freezer apart was a long tube of ice (8 inches) inside the aluminum dispenser that provides the water to the ice maker. I think this was causing the dispenser to spray water along the inside of my freezer (side walls, shelves, back side, etc) It would still make ice, but create a mess doing so.
You can easily check this by removing the ice tray machine (2 gray brackets above the tray) and check your tube.

Ice in freezer and warm refrigerator Zisb48dyb

Hi,

If I remember correctly, GE had a issue with the drain pan as it would clog or restrict and back up in the freezer and in the air return (hence, water under crispers if refer section). GE has a repair kit for this and they have also changed the drain hose to prevent self restricting as it leaves the freezer. This part is an Icing kit part# WR49x10021, this comes with complete instruction as to what your changing and why. This should solve your drain and water problem, if this is what your issue is. I hope this was helpful.

GE Monogram ZIF36N Stainless Steel all freezer

Hope not too late for you. This (along with many others) are known problems for these freezers. After countless defrosting and clean-up, learned there is a probe that can be inserted into drain tube that prevents the drain tube from icing (thereby backing up into freezer and making a mess). Either that or turkey baster, blow drier, repeat every 3 months or so.

Hey Rkraft,

i may have answered that question in the comment ya posted on the other Monogram

But now as i think about it how is the frost pattern on it is part of the evap coil covered in ICE (not frost) that could be a sign of a sealed system problem but only if part of the evap coil is iced up and the tube i spoke about on in that other comment isnt frozen

I have a monogram zis 42d side by side the freezer section works but in the defrost mode the unfrozen ice runs down the sides of freezer and into ice cube storage container, I have cleaned out the drain...

I have this same problem. Now, the freezer will not get cold enough, but still water runs down into the ice bin and just turns into a big solid block of ice. The water is dripping from the top of the freezer compartment. I have disconnected the water coming to the refrig to not allow it to make ice, but still happening. Please post if you have found a solution? Defroster issues?

Ice build up bottom of freezer and water on floor GE Monogram

I had the same problem. The drain tube is located below the pan below the fins at the rear of your freezer. The drain tube has a trap (s-shaped curve) to prevent air flow out of the freezer. The problem is that water gets in this tube and freezes. I took the sheet metal cover off the back, got a turkey baster and flexible tube, and continuously flushed hot water (after the freezer had been turned off around an hour to thaw). Eventually the plug gave way.

GE zir36n rh Monogram 36" built in refrigerator

I finally got my refrigerator fixed after three years of complaining. The units are set up to have the fan running even if the cooling unit is not currently on. So when the unit is not cooling, then the fan is brining in moisture from the outside air which causes the water/mold. GE repair rewired the fan to run only when the unit cools on 4/20/10 and it has fixed my problem!!! Of course, this was only after I have thrown out a LOT of food!

Frost Free Freezer

sounds like you have a clogged/frozen defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials)
