How do I fit my new belt on a Meile W864 washing machine

I have the lid off but just want to be sure of how to fit the actual belt

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2010

Thanks dmoony - I've got the belt just thought there might be a technique to fitting it - the back of the W864 does not come off.

Slacken off the motor clamping screw.

Put the belt over the tub wheel and pull the slack towards the motor shaft.

Lift the motor and fit the belt over the pulley.

Pull on the motor to give tension to the belt and tighten the motor clamping screw.

Check drain flashing and check inlet on my meile w864 washing machine

How old is the washing machine? You have likely water inlet valve solenoids that are inoperative.

Flashing rinse light on meile 864 and anti crease/ finish light comes on.

If you are sure that you made no mistake in mounting the brush cap back on the motor (check the four pins), most probably the electronic EL200 is defective.
This happens often in this type of machine when the shock absorbers are worn (after 10 years).
You can check this by measuring the continuity in the little 6.3A fuse that is on the EL200. If it is blown, you may get the PCB repaired for 55 Euros + shipping (see link below). You also have to replace the shock absorbers (32 Euros) to get a full year guarantee.

How do I take the back off my wt540? I am trying to replace the belt

unfortunatly the back does not come off this machine, only the small inspection panel at the rear.

belt can be really hard to fit, hotpoint actually supplys its engineers with a specialist tool to fit the belt.

i fit it by removing the lid and inspection panel, fit belt around motor first then from the top feed onto the drum pulley. a tip is you can cable tie the belt to the main puley(use a few) then slowley rotate and belt should slip on, sort of like putting a chain on your bike.

may take a few trys, good luck with it and let me no how you get on.

Miele novotronic w864 The motor is still working but the drum is not going round. Could it be the drum belt?

Providing the motor is okay then yes could be the belt...if so you will find that the drum turns by hand no problem with ease........In which case order new belt....

How to get back off to put belt on samsung b1445s washing machine

See if the motor has adjustment , ie a slotted fixing hole, slacken the fixing bolts slightly and motor may move up and down to give adjustment, put the belt on and then put some tension on the belt once fitted by moving the motor down and tightening the motor bolts at the same time.
Or if no adjustment put the belt on the motor spindle first and then the drum by turning the drum as the belt is eased onto it.
