Cannon MVX3000i goes into auto zoom

While recording the ZOOM will automatically start to zoom. At one stage I thought that the problem was heat related because I noticed that I could stop the problem by heating the camera when it was cold say 6 deg C. but then it seemed that if it was hot I needed to cool the camera, but in the end I found that this was not consistent after many trials. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Frank

Had an issue like that with my GL2 at an older stage. Ended up the dimmers and light combination would emit IR that confussed the camera into thinking I was using the remote control to zoom it... if it has an external (not in the lens) pickup you might try covering the IR reciever on the camera with dark tape (if you use masking tape or electrical tape, take it off after you are done as to not leave goop all over your camera)... a post it might work well. Otherwise look in the setup and turn off the remote if possible.... Just one possibility....

In Chile just bought a camera Lumix DMC FZ70, zooming only works in automatic mode AI in the other modes only works zoom 1 to 3x, please indicate what should I do

Zoom 1x to 3x sounds like the limits of optical zoom. The other zoom option may be digital zoom, which merely interpolates pixels to give the impression of a larger picture, and, as you reach the limit of the zoom, the picture quality may be so degraded that the image is unusable.

I have a zoom h4n. I can't get anything but low record levels. I have tried manual and automatic level control. The manual says I should select auto rec and then select start lvl, but when I select auto...

I use an earlier model but try:

Press the "red" light on the correct channel you are using for input. that will bring up the dialog to set input level. the +/- level set is on the same side of the device as the menu wheel.
You need to be in 4CH mode for the external lights to be on

Zoom H1 says

What format are you recording in? Recording in the standard resolution WAV format will only give you about 3 hours in total on the 2GB SD card that comes with the H1, whereas lower resolution WAV recording or MP3 recording will give you more hours, more than 34 hours form MP3 at 128kbps.

I want to disable to auto zoom feature but it will not allow me...every time i set it up it starts to auto focus and zoom...i wish to disable these..any help?thankyou

Zoom :
  • 3 x digital zoom (automatic or manual)
  • Travelling-ZoomTM function : Always be in the frame with this unique feature which tracks your face and even enlarges the field of view if there is more than one person in the frame. All completely automatic, just look at the web cam!
The above tells me that you can have automatic or manual 3x digital zoom. Go to the manual mode for the digital zoom and problem might be solved.

The zoom on the sb600 wont adjust accordingly to the zoom of my lens

Three things come to mind.
First, make sure that you are in fully automatic mode - easily done by reset (holding down "Mode" and "On/Off" at the same time. If you hit the "zoom" button it takes it out of automatic zoom and cycles through manual zoom settings until you get to auto again.
Second - make sure the camera is in an auto mode - manual mode could stop it from zooming.
Third - make sure that you don't have the diffuser pulled down. That can keep it from zooming also.
Good luck!
