BlueBird is a PHANTOM POWERED microphone. That is, your soundcard (or whatever the mic is plugged into) MUST supply 48 volts to power the mic. Some soundcards provide 'phantom power' of 5 volts. That's only enough voltage to power a 'computer mic' - you know, those little mics that are not much bigger than a pencil eraser. You need the full 48 volts to get the BlueBird to work. So - read the specs on your soundcard. If it doesn't provide 48 volts, then you need to buy a '48 volt phantom power supply' which will plug in between your mic and the soundcard.

Where do you connect the 1/4 inch connector? At the same device (karaoke)?
Also check and report if the 1/4 inch connector is "mono" or "stereo"

Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Hi. I bought a Behringer Dynamic Microphone XM8500 but I don't know how to install it. It's not working but probably because I'm doing something wrong. It's my first microphone. Do I need a mixer? Does the...

the type of mic input built into a pc (with a mini-jack socket) will not accept the output of a pro dynamic mic such as the one you have - it won't work correctly. You require a pre-amp or mixer - or what would be better for you would be an audio interface with a built in pre-amp such as this:

interface example.

ATR3350 Microphone: Battery in. Plugged into laptop. Recorded video. ATR3350 Mic is ignored. Audio is still recorded from my Logitech Webcam software. How does this thing work?

You need to tell your computer which microphone / sound source to use.
In he absence of other instructions it is defaulting to the built in microphone.
Normally your sound-card software should detect a new device plugged in and ask you to confirm it. However if it is not doing so you may need to change the audio settings.
How to correct this will vary slightly depending on which operating system you are using.

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here you need to SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls). If your webcam/ microphone is built in to the laptop there should also be a volume control called 'Internal MIC' - disable it by placing a check-mark in the mute box.

NOTE if microphone (or internal MIC) is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK.

That should be it but it is possible you may also need to turn off the microphone in the software for your web-cam.

Can i work this mic with my computer?

Yes. You should be able to plug it in it your microphone jack. First, find the mic jack. it should be located right next to the headphone jack. Open your sound dialog. You can find it by right-clicking the volume control and selecting recording devices. Look for your microphone in the dialog. It should have a green tick on it. If it doesn't, select it and click "Set Default". (note: your microphone may not show as a separate entity. if not, select your default microphone and test it by speaking into the MV29. The level should change)somervta.jpg

I'm thinking of buying this microphone for recording vocals to a computer to produce a song, does it connect to a computer through the microphone jack?

No, it does not. A professional mic will not plug directly into a computer. A USB interface, such as the Shure X2u, would be needed.

I get a quiet signal when using the mic.

Hi,

You should use the mic input of your computer.
If it's not there, use a microphone pre-amplifier.

Any consumer grade pc mic will be fine, as long as the mic has a mini plug so it can plug into the pc's jack, don't get a mic with an xlr plug.

No Sound Coming out my Microphone

i know this might sound a little obvious and maybe irrelevant to the problem, but did you press the switch on the mic? it will turn the mic on and off. make sure sound and mic are unmuted in windows volume control. if both are these didnt solve the problem, test the mic on another computer. if the mic works, maybe its not the mic that has the problem. if the mic doesnt work, then your mic may be defective or damaged in some way or other.
