You was probably installing updates in the background and youve interrupted install and shutdown improperly (reason)
turn on pc and press f 8. if youve never done this before;as soon as you see anything at startup keep pressing f 8 youll still get to the place you want to be.select start up using last known good configuration.

you can try system restore if you have restore dates in but consider that the system cant always restore but it doesnt take a long time so no harm to try.a better optionis to repair os;even better is to reinstall fresh copy if theres no files you desperatly need.

how to do....make sure os disk is in drive, restart;pc option appears press any key to boot from disk, press a key..disk boots giving option install windows or repair windows choose install windows system will check existing os and tell you that os is already installed...at this point you can choose install windows or repair windows.if you choose to repair follow instructions.if you choose to install new copy first delete partition and create new partition....format and install,if you are missing any drivers after instalation dont worry this is common ...drivers can be easily found on hp site

Could you please provide me the exact error message?

However to stop the system shutdown first follow these steps.

Disable automatic system restart.

1. Restart the computer and press the f8 key to open the Advanced Boot Options menu.
2. Select the Disable automatic restart on system failure option.
3. Restart the computer to accept this change.
Then go to safe mode

This problem occurs after a memory dump file (error log file) is written by Windows XP. Because the memory dump file flag not reset in Windows XP the memory dump file will contiue to be written every time Windows is restarted.

1. Restart the computer and immediately press f8 repeatedly. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and then press enter .
2. Click Start , right-click Computer , and then select Properties .
3. Click Advanced system settings , grant permission to continue if prompted, and then click the Advanced tab.
4. On the Advanced tab, click Settings
  1. In the Virtual Memory section, click Change .
  2. For Paging file size for selected drive, click No Paging File , and then click Set .
  3. Click Yes after the following warning appears:
If the paging file on volume X: has an initial size of less than xx megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs. Continue anyway?
(X is the drive letter and xx is the amount of RAM installed on your computer minus 1 megabyte.)
  1. Click System Managed Size .
  2. Click OK four times to return to the Windows Desktop Screen and then restart.
For more information plz check the below doc from HP.
I hope this will definitely resolve your issue.
If not plz get back with the exact error message so I can give you better solution on this.
If you find this helpful then Plz vote for me..Dreamkam

My toshiba satellite M55-S135 is showing a blue screen with "physical memory dump complete" & to contact tech support. Basically, wanted to ask if my laptop is crashed...

Hi:
Crashed is a generic term, and the physical memory dump error is a windows based error that could be a bad memory stick, or a corruption in windows. If you have 2 sticks of memory in your laptop, a cheap and easy way to troubleshoot this would be to remove one stick, then the other,to see if one stick removed stops the crash. If it does, then you have solved the problem, and if it doesnt' then you have a corrupt software issue.

Hope you get a cheap fix!
