Question about Panasonic AJ-D230H DV/Mini DV VCR

1 Answer

Error E-11 When inserting MiniDV Casette (via the cassette adaptor Panasonic AJ-CS750P) I get the error code E-11. In the manual E-11 is: "The reel base which operates in accordance with the size of the tape has been locked or more than 2.5 seconds" - however it does not suggest any way to fix this error (and I'm not even sure that I fully understand the error). Does anybody know how to fix this problem, so that I can play my MiniDV Cassettes in my Panasonic AJ-D230H?? Anders, Denmark. PS:Does anybody have experience with buying add-ons to enable Firewire connection between a MacBook (or older labtop Mac)?? Does it work well?

Most common cause for this problem is defective electrolytic capacitors on the mechanical interface board. a good electronic tech should be able to replace them.

Error 02 - 574

Main code 2X : Mechanism control system error
574 Failed to detect the T reel FG during search.

This means the take up reel stopped rotating during forward search. It shut down assuming tape was spooling loose into mechanism. Could be just a faulty cassette tape. A common problem is also when labels have been placed in the wrong places on the cassettes, stopping the lid from opening fully and stopping the reel reaching the reel motor drive.Manually eject the tape and try another tape. If the fault continues, have a look for something in the way under the cassette such as post it notes, paper clips, torn labels etc.
Have you had the unit serviced since you got it?
Could be time to get it to a service centre for help.

It does not eject the tape,it gives out error c3211

Reel of the cassette must be stuck inside. open the top cover and have a look inside. release the reel if it is tangled up inside. Reset the switch at the bottom of the frot pannel and try to eject the cassette. It will slove your problem. If it is not then you must consult the nearby sony service centre.

AJ-D250 PANASONIC E-62 PROBLEM

E-62 error on AJ-D250 points to a cassette housing problem. either replace the cassette housing or have it rebuilt (replace gears on the sides that raise and lower the cassette). "replace belts" won't work - the AJ-D250 doesn't have any belts.

without knowing the exact error message, I can only speculate, but most rewind errors I have seen with the AJ-D230 are related to problems with capacitors on either the reel motor driver board or the system control board. the firewire upgrade (AJ-YAD230) is no longer available.

Error Codes E-2, E-41, E-61

If you're experienced in capacitor replacement, check the capacitors on the mechanical interface board. When these caps fail, you get mechanical errors like you described. I generally replace all the capacitors on this board as a precaution; I've never had a callback when I replace them all.

Panasonic AG-DV2000 Mini DV VCR will not play large DV tapes

the "dv sensor"is actually a mechanical lever built into the cassette housing that moves the reel tables to match the reel spacing on mini or full-size DV tapes. check to see if this assembly is free to move. if it binds up, the reel tables may not move as far as they need to, and can cause problems similar to the one you're seeing. to inspect the mechanism, you need to remove the cassette housing. if you don't have a service manual, get a tech to help -- it's a delicate procedure for the inexperienced.
