Question about Epson EMP-S1H Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Red stripes during projection

Today I turned my projector on, and I realised red stripes all over the projection area. I reconnected all the cables once again to make sure but wouldn't help. I've gone through the users manual. There it says that this is not a malfunction. But it doesn' explain more. What should I do? Will it turn normal itself? Or is it broken?
I would like to thank you in advance for your helps.

Hi there

I promise you that it is not normal for your Projector to do this , so don't read too much into what is said about this problem.

Stripes of whatever nature on a Projector normally means there is a fault on your Mainboard. In which case it will need repair or replacement.

Warning : It is quite expensive !

Have you tried cleaning the fliters on the back of the unit? It's easy to do. Pull them out, and blow them clean. Also, is the projector well ventilated - mine overheats sometimes and shuts off. Otherwise, sounds like he bulb to me.

Hello, My projector has approx 400 hours of run time. It will not project any hues of red. Any suggestions?

Does it show red hues without any devices connected to it? If the colors are fine without an input device, the problem is your cabling or a connection. To check these, do the following:
1) Disconnect all your cables and observe the ends to make sure they are undamaged. If they look good, reconnect them.
2) Flex the cabling, moving a few inches at a time, starting at one end and moving slowly to the other while watching the projected image. If you see any change, you have found a damaged cable and need to replace it. If nothing is found, then try step 3.
3) Replace your cables with any spares you might have. If this does not fix the problem then go to step 4.
4) Go into your projector menu and find your color settings. Try adjusting these to see if you get the red hues.

If none of the above provided a helpful solution, The problem is usually the internal color panel. The last time I had one of those repaired it cost about $2000. If you are not very experienced repairing electronics or electronic components, you should not attempt this.

LCD projector 101, your blue device is dying inside of projector. Consider purchasing a dlp based product, they do not suffer from color decay.

Really you are blessed , most lcds last about 3-4000 hours or 4 lamp changes. good luck

Progressively worse red "ghosting" when showing films....

This could be either a connection problem internally or a problem with the red filter convergence. This is not a project to be attempted by an inexperienced person. The convergence adjustments should only be attempted with the proper setup and equipment. If you can solder, carefully open up the unit and look for poor solder joints and resolder them. You can also reseat all of the connectors and cables. If neither of the above ersolve the problem, take it in for service.
