Printing faint lines with fine corresponding... (by 2 users)

Seems to be common defect with Ricoh Aficio CL800, CL1000, Cl2000 +others. Faint lines appear etc. (see simular Ricoh CL1000 problem posted by Bpiii and Ricoh2000N problem posted by Christy71)
My photo conductor unit is failing after only 1085 colour copies and 1717 b/w ! Visual inspection reveals faint corresponding to faint line cracks/creases on green flexible drum sheet. Any possibility of repair/polish/coat with something? I'm in South Africa, Drum costs twice the price of new unit. Will never ever buy a new unit again. (I bought two, both have same problem). Trying to prolong their life. Ricoh absolutely no help, do stand behind product. Claim it is normal wear and tear (I believe it is a known manufacturers defect). This printer is 15 months old. I used the other CL800 for all my draft printing so faint lines were acceptable (880 colour, 10700 b/w). This one was used only for high quality printing. Any drum repair possibilities?

It happens on all paper. And is progressively getting worse. Black lines on black prints and 3 colour lines separated by very small gaps on colour prints. The problem is caused by a really crappy designed photo conductor unit. Is there anything I can do to prolong it's life or repair it?

When the Ricoh guy came here once due to software problem, I showed him the photo conductor unit problem, he gave me a used photo-condutor unit that he had just removed and replaced for a contract customer (it had only just begun printing a few small lines) and told me put this one in when "yours gets too bad", out of guarentee customer that I was then. That was with the first printer I mentioned above, the one that I managed to get about 12,000 prints out of. BTW, the duty cycle for this drum was advertised as 60,000prints. About half of the colour prints have been printed on self adhesive labels.

Same problem here. Started after a thick sheet jammed and I pulled it out. The pulling of the sheet out may have scratched film.
Any repair method possible? Fingernail polish or some other cover of scratch on PCU?
Thanks,

Not likely. I think you need to concentrate more on what is causing the problem. What weight and type of paper are you sending through this machine?

You probably can not repair it. I will say this though, be careful to get the right labels for it.
