Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

Opening files I did something to cause all my files to close. The only thing can open is the internet, but all of my downloads are under the same file and cannot open them.

Hi, This is due to virus it happen like this. u do one thing, u try by removing virus by powerful antivirus software and if not removing u have to take backup and format it the os and reinstall the os and restore ur files

If you can get to the internet, but Yahoo is not opening, then try to clear the cookies, cache, and internet files of your internet browser. Here's how:

* For Internet Explorer version 6
1. Open IE6 > Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click the Delete Cookies button and Delete History.
3. Click on OK > Close and re-open your IE6.

I can't connect to yahoo

To resolve this problem follow the steps below:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools and then click Internet Options.
  3. Internet Explorer 6
    • Under Temprorary Internet Files click on Settings button.
    Internet Explorer 7
    • Under Browsing History click on Settings button.
  4. Click Move Folder and change Temprorary Folder to different location.
    Note: Make sure do not place the temp folder on C:\ or systemroot drive.
  5. Optimize Internet Explorer.
  6. Close Internet Explorer.
  7. Try to open Outlook Express again. To resolve this problem follow the steps below:
    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Click Tools and then click Internet Options.

    3. Try to open Outlook Express again.

Cannot download adobe, (or any) files and get following message:


The problem lies in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Sometimes the index.dat file can become damaged.
If this occurs, you'll have to delete the index.dat file and restart your computer.
Then you'll be able to download files correctly again.
Follow the steps below to delete this file.

1) Open Internet Explorer.
2) Click on Tools, Click on Internet Options
3) On the General tab under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Files
4) Click Ok when it asks if you want to delete the files
5) Under the History section on the General tab, click Clear History, then click Ok
6) Close Internet Explorer
7) Log off the current user and Log onto another user account such as Administrator
8) Click on Start, Run
9) Type CMD and Press Enter to open a command prompt
10) Change directories to the Temporary Internet Files directory by typing the following command,
(substituting the correct drive letter and the word username with the correct userName).


cd drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Example: cd c:\Documents and Settings\Mark\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

11) type del index.dat and press Enter
12) Type Exit and press Enter to close the command prompt
13) Restart your computer

Once the computer has been restarted, open a web page with a link to a download.
Click on the link and download the file. It should now work.

I'm unable to open .eml attachment in Windows Vista.


Here's some info: E-mail message saved by Microsoft Outlook or other e-mail program; may also contain an e-mail attachment, or file sent with the message. Note: If EML files will not open in Outlook Express, try the following:
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Select Folder Options from the Tools menu.
  3. Click the File Types tab.
  4. Under Registered file types, select EML Outlook Express Mail Message, then click Advanced.
  5. Click Open, then click Edit.
  6. Type the following line in the "Application used to perform action" box:
    "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1
  7. Click OK twice, then close the window.
EML files may also be opened in Internet Explorer since they are formatted the same as .MHT files; changing the file extension from ".eml" to ".mht" should cause the file to open directly in Internet Explorer.

12) Type Exit and press Enter to close the command prompt
