Question about ViewSonic A90f (Metallic Black) 19 in.CRT Conventional Monitor
I have the same problem and also see the burned parts. I want to fix it by myself! How can I get the ViewSonic A90f 19 in.CRT repair manual so I can find the parts to order?
SOURCE: blurry monitor
The monitor is going bad. It can be serviced but the cost to fix or adjust is not worth it. You may be able to adjust it yourself but A) you need to know what you are doing and B) Accept the risk of completly ruining the monitor or even worse electricuting yourself by accidentialy touching one of the high voltage circuits. A carry in service repair shop will charge about $125.00 to $200.00 to fix it. A new LCD flatscreen is a much better choice it will cost the same or less and will pay you back in time just from the energy savings. My condolences.

If you still have the monitor, check the signal cable -- wiggle it a bit at the PC end and at the monitor end, while watching the image on the monitor. Any change? If you have issues when moving the cable at the PC end, you may want to try shutting down the PC and disconnecting the monitor. Then clean the pins on the monitor's connector with 91%+ isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab (make sure no cotton is left behind). let dry and try again.
If none of this make any difference, wait for the monitor to go dim. Then, gently smack it on all sides. If the image clears up or changes, there is likely an internal bad connection. Do not open the monitor unless you are familiar with all safety precautions involved.
I have the same monitor and I was having a similar problem. Turned out, there was a cracked solder joint on the signal board at the back of the CRT plus several more questionable ones.
