InFocus projector now displaying video

I'm using an InFocus RP10s and an HP laptop. I'm trying to embed a video clip from a DVD into a PowerPoint presentation. It will play on the screen of the laptop, but I'm getting only a black square on the projector. Have even tried using the "Plays for Certain" program with the Powerpoint, but get the same thing. Anyone know how to remedy this?

Thanks for the suggestion -- it certainly has possibilities, and I hadn't tried anything with the drivers before. Unfortunately, per the instructions, it requires an RS232 adapter that I don't have. Once I find/purchase one, I'll give you an update. Thanks again for the tip!

How to put embeded videos on websites

An "embedded" video means it is part of a Web page display rather than just a hyperlink that visitors click on to load the media in another window.

This is an ideal setup if you don't want viewers to leave your website to benefit from the video.
By using a few lines of HyperText Markup Language (HTML), you can embed a video from a sharing site like You Tube or insert your own file onto your website.

Click on the desired video image and copy the code found in the "Embed" section.
(If you do not see an "Embed" area, it means that the video maker does not want the file to be redistributed. You'll need to find another video).

Launch the HTML text editor and open the website page(s) where you want to embed the video. Navigate to your code window, position your cursor in the area where you want to add the movie and paste in the code.

Preview the page to make sure the video displays correctly.
Save the file.

Place the file on your Web host.

Embed Your Own Video

Place your video file, such as Windows Media Video (WMV), on your Web host in the same directory that houses your website files.

Make a note of the location so you can properly insert it on your page.
Launch the HTML text editor, open the desired website page and position your cursor in the code window where you want the video to display.

Enter the HTML "<embed>" code and specify a "type" that identifies what kind of video you have and a "src" that names the address of the file from step one. For example, the code to enter a Flash movie would look like this: < embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.yourdomain.com/video.swf" />

Preview the page to make sure the video displays correctly and then save your document.

Add the document to your Web host.
Embed a Video With HTML on My Website

Embedding video into your website with HTML allows your viewers, readers, or customers to watch a video without downloading it first.

A user could simultaneously read your copy while listening to or watching the embedded video. You can embed a video with HTML using Notepad or your preferred web editor.

Click "Start" and type "notepad" and then press "Enter."
Click "File," and then "Open."

Click the "File Type" drop-down menu and select "All Files and Folders" from the list of options. Locate your HTML file you want to embed the video into, select it and click "Open."

Scroll to the point where you want to embed the video.
Type the following in to the empty space:

<embed src="http://url.com/yourvideo.mpg" autostart="false" />
Replace "url.com" with the address of your video and "yourvideo.mpg" with the file name and extension of your video that you want to embed.

Change "false" to "true" if you want the video to automatically begin.
Close Notepad, and click "Save" when prompted. Upload the HTML page and you will have embedded video into the HTML of the site.

Hello,

You can do this with a VGA to TV convertor. This is a device that converts the VGA signal from your laptop to a signal that your TV displays. It simply plugs into the VGA port on your laptop, as you would a monitor or projector, and into your TV.

I frequently use these devices, and they are very simple to use, with good results. You can find an excellent model at http://sewelldirect.com/pc-to-tv.asp. Or by searching for a PC to TV Converter.

Hope that this helps you!

Can I connect a projector (for presentations powerpoint etc )to my HP Compac desktop? Works with my laptop but need to use the Desktop also.

You should be able to. It will somewhat depend on what video connections your PC has and what the projector will allow. If your desktop does not have the correct connections you can get a video card that should have what you need. Here is a link to video cards from a reputable dealer.

Whether you have a laptop or a desktop hooked up to this projector, you will need to adjust the resolution of your desktop to a level that the projector can handle. Without the Model number of the projector, I cannot tell what the resolution should be. I would hook it up and then lower the resolution level of the PC as see if it shows a picture. Does the projector show your desktop image on the screen? If not then changing the resolution will solve the problem.

I hope that I have provided the correct information that will assist you in the resolution of this issue.

if you are trying to hook the laptop to the proyector, did you try right clicking on the desktop to view the properties of the screen?
you have to right click at the desktop, then go to properties, then go to the tab of configuration then click on the second screen that will apear, and when it greys out, you there is an option you have to click below that says "extend windows desktop to this monitor", of course, the proyector has to be already conected, when you already clicked that, touch the sync button of the proyuector and it should be working.. otherwise, at the windows of configuraton you have to click on advanced (wich is a button almost at the bottom of the window) and then a window will emerge and (on my version) there is a tab that its called like my video card of the laptop (in your laptop it should be called like your video card), and there must be an option (after you plugged the proyector) of sending the signal like something specific, like a signal for tv, or proyector,or monitor.. .i think it varies depending on the model of the video card.
well.. i think thats all about it.. wish you good luck in your lecture..
also.. check the cables!.. if they are old they could be broken at the begening of the conection... (did i explain that right?)
