Coby TF-DVD7100 7" portable flat screen...keep getting "Wrong Disc" Error
I recently purchased a used unit from ebay and can not locate the orginaly owner or any instructions on how to use it. I seems to turn on fine...can see the DVD turning and it says it's loading, then, it gives me a "wrong disc" error. Can anyone help me?

I have seen this problem on several Yamada & Xoro brand DVD players. If you remove the lid after powering down with the disc tray closed and a disc in it you may well find the ribbon cable to the read head is rubbing on the disc. The ribbon cable is held to the base of the box by a sticky pad under a 45 degree bend in it and a piece of sticky tape !!!. Power up unit, open disk tray, power it down, retape cable to base securely with small strips of duct or gaffer tape (using tweezers helps) and hey presto it will work again. The cable rubbing slows the disk spin speed hence "data read error" unit assumes "bad/faulty/wrong type of disk". All that technology screwed up by using a cheap bit of tape in the factory assembly, amazing eh !.

the unit is showing "no disk" on every disk that you try to play,
unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be
replaced. It can not be repaired. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. If you received the unit as a Xmas present, please call the number above for instructions on getting the unit exchanged.

Paul Sim, coby portable dvd player model TF DVD7005 keeps coming up with an error message that says NO DISC regardless of whatever disc you put in, the player comes up with the message LOADING on the screen and then stops after a little will and comes up with the NO DISC message
I have also had the misfortune of owning one of these substandard pieces of trash. I corrected my wrong disc error by manually moving the laser towards the center. The laser seems to jump off track and gets stuck on the outer edge for some reason. I'm still battling a software issue that keeps reverting to the set-up screen.
In Remote Control:
1) Press SETUP
2) Press Fwd (»)
3) Press Rwd («)
4) Press Fast Forward (»|)
5) Press Fast Rewind (|«)
Original region number (1 to 6) will appear - uses arrow keys (Navegation) to change to 255 (ALL Regions).
A couple notes:
- The keys referred to in the above hack are on the remote control (not
on the front panel). But, if you want, you can use the front panel to
implement the hack – just use the key equivalents (i.e., for SETUP,
press Mode twice; for », press and hold »| for 2 seconds, and so on ).
- When the Region Number appears, it is in the upper right corner of
the Set Up window without any label. In other words, if your player is
currently set up for Region 1, look for the number 1 to appear in the
upper-right corner of the Set Up screen (once you've pressed the
correct sequence of fast forward and reverse keys). Then use the arrow
keys to toggle the number to 255.
If you remove the main battery, you might have to do the trick again.
