Re: how to open ds lite
There are two cross head screws under the rubber feet at the slot1 side, there are two tri-wing screws on the left (stylus side) and inside the battery cover (under the battery) there is a cross head screw at the top and a tri-wing screw at the bottom (in the corner).
The screen is held together by 4 screws under the ruber pads and then the outer case slides up about 5mm and then pulls clear.
Take great care when putting it all back together to line up the volume and power switches and plastics as the power switch breaks quite easily.

To owner of question, you will have to clean out the DS Lite Cartridge Slot since there must be too much corrosion on the pins or dust inside the Cartridge Slot. Try using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean the inside of it. Then use a dry q-tip to dry the rubbing alcohol. To Guest - If you open up the DS Lite, you will see that the cartridge slot is covered with metal. You can't get into it without breaking it apart. Your best bet is to buy a replacement Cartridge Slot off of Ebay, desolder the old one, and then solder the new one on.
Some pins were bent in my son's DS. I used a mini LED light and an open paper clip as a pick to bend them back into line. I then got an Emory board (nail file) and wet the tip in alcohol, the board is the right thickness to just reach the copper pins. I went in and out gently as I worked my way across the lot and kept wetting the file with alcohol. All the games worked like it was new. be sure to do this upside down so the alcohol drips out the slot along with the filings. good compressed air blow after you are done to get all the strays out of there.
The pinds are copper and they do oxidize and the games left in gets moisture trapped between the game and the pin causing some corrosion. Maybe diddimilar metals by alloy but wither way this fix works ! : )
if you go onto ebay you can buy the correct screwdriver for 50p it is called a triwing screwdriver my daughter did the same to my ds she poured juice into the back i opened it up gave it a good clean with some cotton buds left it open for a couple of days and it works fine now hope this helps.
Components may have come loose on the board, or damaged solder joints. Water damage can sometimes only appear after water has had time to seep, unless knock helped throw some residual water around inside, onto things it shouldn't touch.
