B03 error code on kodak easyshare one 4mp digital camera

Camera turns on briefly showing B03 error code, zoom lens extended (won't retract). changed batteries and removed memory code. I still receive the error code. the manual says to clean contact points on batteries. I even tried that and still have the same error code.

I have a kodak easyshare DX6490. The camera error code B03 comes on for a few seconds and then the camera shuts down. The telephoto lens remains in the extended position. The battery had been fully charged.

I have removed the memory card and cleaned the battery but it still reads the same code.

all i see is camera error #B03 see user guide

what can i do to fix this?

I have a Kodak Easyshare C360 - 5mp. Having the same issue, tried everything short of taking it in. Even went as far as to contact Kodak. Sadly, they don't stand by their products as it's discontinued and they don't support it anymore. The camera is 3 years old. I'll never ever by another Kodak and I am going to write a letter to them about it.

THe issue of the camera shutting down and the lens Extending is an internal malfunction. UNited Camera Repair has been able to fix this, at least for me, they did. They replaced the main board and the camera worked when I got it back. Otherwise, if you dont want to spend the money, its a gonner..

SOURCE: B03 error code on kodak easyshare one 4mp digital camera

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

The lens has been damaged, or knocked out of alignment. There is a tiny motor that extends and retracts the lens, you will need to take it to a camera technician to assess whether it can be repaired or replaced.

Lens won't retract

Lens probably does not extend or retract because of debris or a misaligned gear box. The lens can in about 50% of the cases be repaired without having to replace it. Try to return to manufacturer first. If you're out of warranty, there are third party place that fix them such as camera lens repairs. If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

Either your PCB board is damaged, your batteries are old, or your AC adapter is providing higher voltage than the required 3 volts.

When I turn on the camera. the lens will not extend. The screen
will not show anything but a message, " date & time are already
programmed". No menu item works. Pictures cannot be taken.
