Don't,... if that was to happen to anyone it WOULD be ME !! ??? seeing as how , to me, a computer is a typewriter on Steroids :)

Ahah..well..there are tons of those online. Just make certain that the connectors are compatible, since there is no one standard for connectivity.

The instructions below are for Windows 7. If you have a different version of Windows, it should be similar, but some of the steps might be slightly different.

  • Go to Start - Control Panel
  • Go to Region and Language
  • Go to the Keyboards and Languages tab
  • Click the Change keyboards button
  • Change the default input language to English (United States) - US
  • Under Installed services, if you have any foreign language keyboards listed, remove them.

My comp. is 7 months old and the hard drive is dead. How can I get it repaired?

Sorry to hear it.
It might be the HD, or it might just be the disk controller, or it might be something else.

The first solution would be- if it's still covered by warranty - to get it serviced.

If it's not covered by warranty, then you need to have the problem accurately diagnosed.
Pay to have a shop diagnose (and maybe fix) the problem. Or look in Craigslist for someone you think you can trust to fix the problem (look under "Services", "Computer").

You really need to define the problem. If the HD is bad, you'll have to make the additional decision of if you need to retrieve the files from it (and what would be involved in doing this).

Depending on the diagnosis, it may not be that difficult or expensive to get fixed. Hard drives can be easily (and inexpensively) replaced. If this is the problem, and if you have the installation disks to reinstall your OS, you can be up & running for as little as $30-50 (if you do it yourself - it's not hard, if you're careful & wear an anti-static wrist band). Paying someone to do it can run as little as $100, including parts, give or take.

But - if your HD has gone out - you'll want to know why, so you don't run the risk of a new HD going out, too. So be sure to diagnose the problem, and then you can move on from there. Good luck!

I was able to find drivers for this device which turns out to be an SD Card reader built into the laptop. Here is the site I found it on:
You'll want to click on "Computers and Accessories" on the left hand side, and then select "Laptop Computers".
Upon selecting the correct model, I found all the pertinent drivers for my laptop.
The Category, which is the middle column on the drivers page, is going to be something along the lines of "Driver Flash Memory SD" Az.

Hello Oldnovii
This Toshiba notebook has both a BIOS and hard drive lock on it. The client has already paid $ 25 to the Toshiba depot to have the BIOS lock removed now they want $ 100 to remove the hard drive lock. The hard drive lock cannot be removed by trying to bypass it using a boot cd or disabling the hard drive boot option in the BIOS. Any help will be appreciated since my client has now had the notebook for 2 weeks and cannot use it. Thanks
