Question about Audio Technica AT-LP2D Turntable

1 Answer

Audio Technica AT-LP2D

The turntable turns too fast. We just set it up and recorded the first song. When we switched to the next LP, it turned at too fast a speed and I can't get it to go back to normal speed.

I have an audio-technica AT-LP2D-USB Turntable, I recorded several LPs at regular 33rpm. A few weeks later tried to do another 33rpm LP and it is stuck at a faster speed of 52rpm at the 33rpm setting. I checked the checked the drive belt and it is properly seated.

I recorded a couple of 33LP records just fine. A few weeks later hooked it up again and on the 33rpm setting the turntable spins at 52rpm. I have reset the drive belt.

I'm having some trouble with that too. It seems like it's turning at 35 and 47 rpm or something. Just a little too fast.

Mine had the same problem. It was under warranty and Audio-Technica replaced it promptly.

My SounDesign Player Turntable System will power up but the platter won't spin.

Try to lift the table (it might have a "c" clip lock in the center) and check the belt or idler tire on the bottom of the table.

One channel vocals drop out

yes, it is very likely the stylus. the stock needle is conical shaped like a ball point pen. You might have a tonearm that is out of alignment but usually it's the needle. It is possible it is just dust on the tip but if it occurrs in consistent areas of the record, then it is likely that the music is just too demanding for the LP2D you will either have to use your old technics which is likely better quality or you could try upgrading the stylus on your LP2D.
If you do a yahoo search for "4-211-DE-GUARD" with the quotes, the 1st result will take you to an elliptical upgrade over the stock needle. The elliptical tip will pull more info out of the grooves and into your computer for further processing.

LP audio recording seems to be at the wrong speed

1- The turntable is set to 45 rpm and the album is recorded at 33 rpm. Press the 33 rpm button the red light should come on turn the and be fine.

or

2- This turn table has a fast record mode where you can record a 33 rpm LP faster by spinning it at 45 rpm. If you are trying to use this mode you will have to make a software setting to tell the TTUSB10 digital converter program what mode you want to run.

:).

No matter what I do, I can't eliminate the occasional skip...

Try cleaning that lp with an anti static felt record brush, and look for either groove glide or d4 cleaner....Sounds odd, but ive ad records kept in tip top, climate controlled, and funk still gets in the groove.
