Image sizing problem

When i first got my cybershot, my pictures were 1920x1080. I have no idea what i pressed on my camera, but now my setting is on VGA which is making my pictures to be only 640x480.

Do you know how to get it off of the VGA setting, so my pictures can be bigger again????

Hi, I have a Canon Powershot G12. I'd like to resize the pictures smaller in the camera. Can this be done? If so, how do I do this?

To change the size of existing pictures:
Press the Playback button (right-pointing triangle). Press the MENU button and choose [RESIZE] and press FUNC/SET. Use left/right to select an image and press FUNC/SET. Use left/right to choose a size and press FUNC/SET.

To change the size the pictures are taken:
After pressing the FUNC/SET button, use up/down to select the current image size (probably displayed as a rounded triangle and a capital "L"). Use left/right to select an option. L is 10 megapixels (3648x2736), M1 is 6MP (2816x2112), M2 is 2MP (1600x1200), and S is 0.3MP (640x480).

Now, ask yourself this: If you're going to be taking 6MP or smaller pictures, why did you bother to buy a 10MP camera?

How do i adjust image size since my mem card ca only store 10 pics only

Dear Friend,
All reputed company supply User Manual or Instruction Booklet along with their product to make the customer understand how to use the product. Most of the features are explained by illustrations. Make a habit to go threw such book and liturature supplied with the product.
In your case:
  1. Set the mode selector to Camera positionsony_baroda_4.jpg
  2. Turn on camera and press the Dustbin symbolsony_baroda_5.jpg The Image Size setup item appears
  3. Select the desired image size with up / down arrow keysony_baroda_6.jpg The image size is set.
After the setting is completed, press
(Image Size). The Image Size setup item
    disappears from the screen.
    • The image size value selected here is preserved
even when the camera is turned off.
Keep the size lowest or VGA when quality of the picture is not very important. To get best resolution you may choose larger size, at the cost of more memory usage and less number of pictures.
I hope this answer is useful to you and you will like to visit us again for your query.
Thanking you for using Fixya!

Hello, My camera had been taking photos under a file size of 1 MB, normally 800 KB. Today for some inexplicable reason (I must have done something!), the photo file size is 4MB, too large to send and use...

On your camera, look for settings. You must have set it on "Large" or "Max" picture quality. Thus making your 'normal' 800kb into a more better quality.

On your laptop/computer try to open it in a image editor and change the resolution of the picture.

Hi, I have Sony Cybershot DSC w320 digital camera of 14.1 MP. Can you please tell me how I can take the pictures on less Mega Pixcal so that the size of file get reduced. Thanks, Prateek

Hi,
The image size determines the size of the image file that is recorded when you take an image. The larger the image size, the more detail will be reproduced when the image is printed on large format paper. The smaller the image size, the more images can be recorded. To change the Image Size in the Camera, press and select the MENU-->Image Size-->Desired Size [(640×480)VGA or (2592×1944)5M] The quality of the VGA Image is very less when compared to the 14M.
Good Luck

  1. Ensure the camera is turned on.
  2. If applicable, ensure the lens cover has been removed before taking pictures.
  3. Ensure the LCD backlight is turned on by pressing the DISPLAY button several times until the screen appears. NOTE: Depending on the camera model, the DISPLAY button may be labeled as DISP or with a display icon [FIG. 1]. This button could be a standalone button or incorporated as one of the control arrow buttons depending on the model of camera.
  4. If operating the camera with a battery, ensure the battery is fully charged.
  5. Ensure the battery is inserted properly in the camera.
  6. If operating the camera with the power adapter, ensure it is plugged into a working AC outlet.
  7. Ensure no Audio/Video (A/V) cables are connected for viewing pictures on a TV; the LCD screen will not display when an A/V cable is connected.
  8. Perform a reset procedure on the camera.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony Service Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.

Try to reset the camera to original settings:
How to reset a Cyber-shot® digital still camera back to original factory settings. Solution
sp.gif sp.gif Cyber-shot cameras nowadays have a built-in rechargeable battery for retaining time, date, and other settings. Since the built-in rechargeable battery is not removable, current Cyber-shot camera models can only be returned to the original factory settings by pressing a small RESET button on the camera or by using an Initialize option in the menu.

I have a sony dsc t20 I lost the manual and now I don't know how to set the camera to take pictures at the max image size 3264 x 2176 (3:2), how to set it,please explain in steps if possible

Under menu items - look for Image Size, that set the size of image - nothing in manual on Pixels - I would set to FINE and 8MB that would be the MAX size of image. From the Cyber-shot® Handbook link on page 10 - it says the 8MB setting is for 3264x2448 - I cant see how to change the aspect ratio to get the 3:2 for 3264x2176

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.
Thanks.
