Frigidaire front load washer model GLTF1670ASO

Hi...During high speed spin cycle, the machine shakes, rattles and almost rolls! A loud clanging noise is also heard, and sounds as though solid pieces are hitting each other. Opened the top panel and cant see evidence that anything is loose or worn. Ran spin cycle with top open and still cant see whats causing the noise. Also can you suggest how to determine if shocks and springs need to be replaced.

Check the shocks on the bottom of the drum. I had the same problem and had to replace the shocks because they were broken in half.

There is a part called a spider on the back of the tub inside the drum. The spider breaks and the tub needs to be replaced. +/- $250.00. Cannot buy the tub or spider separately. Do not run the machine too long in this condition as there are screws that will cut thru the drum and it will leak and need replaced too.

Water leaking and loud noise and rattling on final spin cycle

Turn the drum by hand and if you hear any noises it is the rear bearing. If there is no noise then remove the front bottom panel and take out the coin trap on the pump and check those hoses.

Washing machine makes a clanging sound during agitation/spin

Without being there to physically see what it's doing or hear the sound, I would say there's 3 possibilities. 1) drive block is slipping on basket drive / brake assembly. 2) basket drive assembly is worn where drive block seats onto it. 3) clutch slipping.

Rattling noise during spin cycle

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Loud Noise - Spin Cycle

If the washer is making a squealing noise, the problem is more likely to be the basket drive. If it is more like a rattling sound, the centerpost bearings are probably worn out. Open machine's rear panel and spin the basket manually by turning the drive pulley, to find out from where exactly the noise come from. Defective part should be replaced. Good luck !!
