I think you'll have to contact Nikon to get a new lens.
If you have a camera shop nearby u can ask them to order you one which shouldn't cost too much. or contact Nikon on their website.

Well that's all i got.

Good luck.

Hello!

you can fix that it yourself but there should be extra careful not to damage some other parts, if i were you, i will let the service center do it so that everything is fine without risk in your part.

you just pay for replacement spareparts and a little service in your area.

best regards, melnavz

If you stop by a pro camera shop, they will probably re-align it for you for free or cheap.

I have a Nikon d50, had it since 2006, I took a picture, heard a weird noise, and now the viewfinder is dark as if I have a lens cap on (I don't!) I took off the lens and saw inside the body of the...

Inside the camera is a mirror which reflects the scene up to the viewfinder. It flips out of the way when you press the shutter button. When the mirror flips up, the shutter opens and exposes the sensor. When you look inside, if the mirror is stuck in an up position, you will not see anything in the viewfinder. However, the mirror is super delicate....do not touch its surface or try to force it.

Perfectly good photos but image in view finder will not focus Nikon D80 camera

Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. There's a little dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder. You want to be looking at an unfocused view or a blank wall. Turn the dial until the focus brackets are sharp. Make sure you do this with your shooting eye.

How do I turn on the grid on the D50

You don't. The D50 does not have the ability to display grid lines in the viewfinder.

Nikon D50 reads [-E-] in window not viewfinder and won't shoot.

This is the error code for having a lens with manual or auto aperature adjustment in manual mode with the camera in anything other than "M". You need to put the lens in the max aperature (usually it's red) and then move the small red switch to the red dot. I don't think anything else will give you this error.

D50 aperture control assemly

unlikely - these are high-precision parts - even disassembled and repaired by Nikon, the lens is never the same. The 18-55mm lens that came with the outfit goes for under $200. Depending what other glass you own, - and if you can afford it - go for the 18-200 VR and consider it a blessing in disguise. This lens is amazing in quality and universal usability.

The auto focus is not working on my Nikon D50

I assume the AF/M switch on the body is set to AF as well? This has not been mentioned but the D50 has two drive systems for AF.

Nikon D50 LCD Display does not work

NatD, The D50 and indeed most SLR digital cameras [ I have a D40 ] does not allow you to take pictures using the LCD display ... this is by design, you are meant to use the viewfinder and the image you see through it is straight through the lens via a mirror block [ called a reflex pentamirror or prism ]. When the mirror is down such that you can see the image in the viewfinder it is obscuring the sensor [ the bit that takes the picture ] and when you take a shot the mirror lifts and the picture is recorded. Its this reason that DSLR's dont use the LCD to shoot, however there are a few now available that do let you do this, such as olympus, new panasonic one and higher end Nikon and Canon cameras. Hope this explains it without getting too detailed!

Viewfinder Blank

This suggests the mirror is stuck up in the take position. Remove the Lens and look at what is behind it In the rest mode you should see a mirror. If it is stuck up you would see the sensor window Which do you see. with the lens off - can the camera be switched on? This might just drop the mirror The mirror is surface silvered - do not touch it. If it still up then it is a repair shop/warranty replacement job.
