Question about Cell Phones
I have a CECT A380i Tri-band GSM TOUCH SCREEN PDA PHONE and cellular one service. I do not get service on my phone, it only says emergency on the main screen, and I noticed that the frequency is 1900 for this phone and my service has 850 and 1900. How do I get my phone to get service?
As someone else explained. this phone is TRI-BAND. it only supports GSM 1900, 900, 1800. It does NOT support GSM 850
ATT/CINGULAR works on both GSM 850/1900, so you are picking signals off GSM1900 WHEREVER AVAILABLE. as far as AT&T service goes, they have coverage in your area but might be more of GSM850.
The phone CAN NOT be changed to support GSM850 as it was not designed to do so. the chipsets and antenna inside do not support that range. So I am sorry to tell you the news but over CINGULAR this phone is a BAD BAD BAD option.

Okay, I am having problems of my own...a few things I learned: This phone DOES NOT work on the 850 Mhz frequency. Some att/cingular areas use this frequency. Another thing is the sim card has to be at least a 3G card...the 2g/3g 'logo' is on the back side of the Sim...(the side with the gold) Also...like others have been stating you have to activate the Sim card. This phone does have two slots for two Sims...BUT only one is active at a time. To do this you must go into Settings, then Sim Switch...from there it gives you the choice of activating Sim 1 or Sim 2. Once i did this i got coverage from Att. When i go to make a call it tells me 'Network Fail' I called ATT and they said that it has nothing to do with the SIM seeing that the SIM still works in my old phone....they just simply blame it on the 'unsupported unlocked' phone. If i find anything i will update. Also....i just pulled my phone off the charger....the keys were not working correctly and now that the batt is fully charged they work....not sure if i just got lucky :-)

It read EMERGANCY
BEcause the phones reception is POOR at best
Try moving into a better service area

You have to activate the sim card within the phone. go to the settings screen till you find sim settings it will than say activate sim 1 or sim 2 select sim 1

You can alter the phone to read the other SIM card slot or try putting the SIM card into the other slot.
