GE Profile Refrigerator PFS22SISBSS Bottom Freezer Temperature Indicators

The temperature indicator LEDs for both the freezer and the refrigerator do not light up. The cotrol buttons still work, but I have to guess the temperature to set the refrigerator or fridge. Cannot find any fuses or lights to change.

I have the same problem. Freezer is at 0F but the fridge is warmer than it should be. Thinking of replacing the control board.

I also have a ge fridge with a bottom freezer and just yesterday my control panel went blank it still works if I press the buttons but as I can not see the numbers I dont know what temp its set at......how do we go about fixing this I called GE asnd they said they would send out a repairman for a flat rate of $80 and more for labor but honestly from the reviews I have read I think they will make the problem worse before it gets better!

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2008

Same exact problem. We got this with our house or would never have bought GE. We have never had anything but problems with them.

Probably getting their parts from Iran.

CONTROL PANEL WENT BLANK IT RUNS 24/7

  • cdoria Aug 14, 2008

This is one of many problems with this fridge. Some days the temperature read out works but most of the time it does not. Sometimes find icecream melting (like soft serve) sitting on the top shelf of freezer; one of the cheap plastic door latches cracked, this is a $198.00 part because it's part of the door gasket so mine is velcroed shut; the slide out wire bins in the freezer are rusting; and the fridge drawer slides are so cheap they fall off the rails every time they are opened This is the LAST GE APPLIANCE I WILL EVER BUY.

  • ertiop Aug 19, 2008

display went blank the other day. unplugging and replugging the fridge fixes for a minute or two. seems there are lots of other people with similar problem. called ge and they were incredibly UNhelpful. I scheduled a repair, hoping they will acknowledge it is a known issue.

Same Problem Temp display blank, whats the fix?

  • waid75 Dec 02, 2008

I have this exact same problem on my PFS22SBSBSS GE Profile Refrigerator. It is 3 years old.

  • Anonymous Feb 08, 2009

I just bought a GE Profile fridge with a bottom freezer drawer and plugged it in for the first time. There is no LED readout for the freezer or the ice box temp. The buttons beep but that is about all. I've been waiting for the freezer to cool down for an hour now ... nothing yet. The motor is making a hum though. Kinda like and leaf blower. Not quite that loud.

I finally called GE about the non-working LED's and the temperature fluctuation. It's a known problem as many consumers have posted online. I called 800-386-1215 several times. What I found is I'd get different menu options nearly each time I called. The way I got to a 'helpful' human follows: Call above number; you will/may here a voice that states only 'for recalled appliances press 9' (may also have options for repair or parts) PRESS 0; next menu PRESS 5; you'll hear 'for less than 1 yr old press 1' and 'for more than 1 yr press 2'. In my case I pressed 2, then got a menu with 'for refrigerators PRESS 2'. Spoke to a woman who never denied that GE has a motherboard problem. She offered to provide a free motherboard but no labor. I asked (to be sure) if I would have to pay labor, she said yes or I could have $400 off a new crappy GE fridge. She said I would have to have a repairman come to diagnose the problem, then order the part and then come back to repair. I then said, 'You're telling me that I have to pay for TWO service calls to repair a known GE defect???? How much should I expect to pay for these TWO service calls???' She then asked me to hold, then came back on the line and told me that GE would pay the labor for the repair.
I also asked if GE was willing to do anything about the 25 cent door latch that cracked after 11 months (and is attached to the door gasket a $228.00 part) or the rusting wire freezer baskets and was told no. Hey, worth a try! The fact that they said no ensures that I will continue on my crusade to warn anyone who'll listen not to buy GE! Keep calling, after I got the right menu the wait was short the whole call was less than 15 minutes.

For the solution, don't bother to contact GE. I tried and they just stonewalled me even though this is apparently a known issue. Their solution is for me to pay lots of money to a local service company.

okay - i caved in and called GE. It is a known issue with the control board.

When the service guy came out he told me about it and the repair was free on this model.

The GE profile refig I have is a piece of garbage.(3 Yrs. old) The freezer temp control is not working and I was just informed by GE that they would cover the parts but not the labor cost. This seems to be a major GE problem and I fill this whole repair should be covered. I will never in my life own another GE product, nor will anyone In my family.

We finally had GE come to the house. They fixed it for free because it was a known issue.

Temperature is reads 73 on freezer and 34 on refrigerator But... inside all are warm Help

It may be vice versa.
You need to check and make sure that the freezer section is 34 degree. The refrigerator compartment depends on the freezer in order to maintain a temperature suitable for food storage. If it is the case, you defrost heater and thermostat may be defective.

Freezer temperature fluctuating way up and down. 0 recommended. 11 degrees right now. 18 earlier. Food defrosting. Ice cream soft. GE Profile bottom drawer freezer. Only 3-4 years old.

Your problem could stem from an issue with the defrost timer, the compressor or its attachments (e.g.: relay, capacitor, etc.), or the freezer/evaporator fan motor. Contact an appliance service company.
