Open the task manager (right click on the task bar>task manager>services panel) and locate the service that takes all the cpu power. It maybe is a virus or a trojan or an known application that can not run smothly.
Post back the results.

Testimonial: "File QtZgAcer.exe was causing the problem making the cpu run at 100%. "

  • Anonymous Mar 03, 2010

Well, this file is preinstall on your Acer laptop and the file will found at C:\Program Files\Launch Manager\QtZgAcer.EXE. As you may noticed, stopping this application cause no problem at your laptop. Try for some days stopping it, and since your laptop works fine I suggest you delete it.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Acer laptop curser froze and optical mouse does not work

There are many things that might cause your PC to run slowly or restart at time and then. It could be a fragmented disk; fragmented registry; a virus, Trojan, or spy ware; high CPU and/or utilization due to too many programs running; high disk I/O; or something else.

To check your CPU and memory utilization, run Task Manager. You can start Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and then clicking on the Task Manager Button. In Task manager, click on the Performance tab and check CPU Usage and PF Usage. PF Usage is an indicator of memory usage. If one or both of these is high, click on the Processes tab, and sort the columns by CPU or Memory to see what processes are consuming the resource. If you are not sure what the process "Image name" is for, Google the name and you should find what the process is for.

If your CPU and memory usage are reasonable, then you may have a different issue. Even if you running anti-virus software, it may be beneficial to scan your PC with another scanner to check for viruses. No anti-virus software is 100% perfect at catching everything. Here are a few good free online virus scanners that you can run to check your PC:

An excellent free utility for overall system maintenance is Advanced System Care Free ( http://download.cnet.com/advanced-systemcare-free/3000-2086_4-10407614 .html ). I use this utility on a regular basis.

You should always run anti-virus software. There are several very good, free, anti-virus products available. One good source to read editor and user reviews, and safely download anti-virus software, is http://download.cnet.com -- search for free antivirus software. In addition to the reviews, you can see how many people are downloading the software, which is another good indicator of how popular it is.

I have used AVG Free ( http://download.cnet.com/avg-anti-virus-free/3000-2239_4-10320142.html ) , and Avast Free ( http://download.cnet.com/avast-free-antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.htm l ). Both are very good, and completely free. At present I am using Avast on all of my home computers.

I have heard good things about Avira AntiVir Free ( http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-22 39_4-10322935.html ), and it has good ratings, but I have not personally tried it.

In addition to Avast or one of the other free anti-virus software packages, I also run Ad-Aware ( http://download.cnet.com/ad-aware-free-internet/3000-8022_4-10045910.h tml ). Ad-Aware is a free anti-malware, anti-spyware package.

Good luck!

The power supply on my acer aspire 3000 not working because I changed the processor by another equal and still having the same problem. how do I fix the font

You can download fonts for free from various websites. By connecting the power supply to your laptop it will enable your laptop to run for longer.

As for the cpu, make sure your frequincy settings and voltage regulations are correct and that your laptop motherboard supports the new cpu by doing a bit of googling.

MyAcer Z5610 switches itself off Ive had it for a few months Have checked all hard ware and all checks out Ok diagnostics Check out fine too Have asked for help from acer but was told probably virus

Hi Friends,

this is a common problem with a simple reason. The copper cooling fins in front of the fans are clogged with dust. Use SpeedFan (download free at http://download.cnet.com/SpeedFan/3000-2094_4-10067444.html) to verify. I bet it suddenly shuts off when you run a cpu intensive program. If the cooling fins are clean you can run 100% cpu for as long as you want. At 25 degrees room temperature the cpu temp will be around 65 degrees C at max. This is also too high, but the cpu they use (Q8200) is a "hot" one and Acer did a very bad job in the cooling solution.

Anyway, when the cooling fins are blocked by dust, the temperature at 100% cpu goes in seconds north of 80 degrees C. And the CPU has a safety inbuild. I forgot the exact temperature, I think it was 90 degrees C. At that temperature the cpu kills windows and you have a black screen.

Sometimes you can not restart at once or you might land in the BIOS at restart, telling you that the cpu had overclocking problem. You can not force it: when it is too hot the cpu will not start!

There is only one help. You have to open the **** thing and take out the fans. Than you will see what I mean with clogged cooling fins. Clean them with vacuum cleaner and brush - clean the fans and put it back together. I did it right now again (have to do it every 6 - 12 months depending on how much dust you have around).

Download the SERVICE manual to see how to open it. its just the back panel of the casing, and the metal sheet cover and than you can take out the fans (carefull with the connector - its small and can easily be broken). To take off the rear plastic cover (the very first step in the service manual) is tricky. Do exactly as described in the manual. when you push it down, it will bend a little and the hooks on the back will slide out off their anker holes.

Acer z5610 suddenly turns OFF Temperature is normal, no overheat, new thermal grease System scanned for errors, viruses - nothing WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Are you sure the temperatures are ok? When I run DIVX Plus Converter on the Z5610 the CPU (intel Q8200) is running (naturally) at a high load. Speed Fan 4.42 shows rising temperatures going north of 90 degrees C. If only DIVX Converter runs the temperatures of the CPU cores is around 92 to 94 degrees C. But if I start browsing the internet the temperatures go close to 100 degrees C. When one of the cores reaches 100 degrees C Speed Fan shows MINUS temperatures on the cores (-10 to - 20 deg C). Speed Fan is just monitoring as it can not even detect the Fan.
When that happens the Fan stops completely!! And short after that the computer switches of (same as if you would pull the plug).
Obviously there is a bug in the BIOS or the Motherboard which leads to interpretion of temperatures above 100 degrees C as MINUS temperatures which leads to the stop of the fan.
I am sure that also happens whenever you use a CPU intensive program (like a game or any other video converter/rendering program). You might download a temerature monitoring program (i.e. Speed Fan - its free) and see for yourself. Also listen whether the fan stops working compltely (goes completely silent) when the PC overheats and short before it switches off. Let's see what ACER says to that.
I used to like ACER. But first Aspire 4310 tripping frequently because the VGA chip overheats and now that stupid fault ==> never ever ACER again. I will use the Z5610 for internet surfing and get a real all-in-one which you can use. That is a clear sign for me that ACER does not test their machines at all under full load - or knowingly sells faulty machines.

Acer 5100 noise from speakers and cpu runs 100%

Even though you bought the laptop used, you can try going to www.acer.com and leave a message they may be able to give you more advice.
I am thinking it could be the DVD drive or maybe even a memory issue, not really sure, maybe you need to add more memory, I think Acer will be able to help.
Good Luck.

Overheating issue - looking for service manual

I had the same problem. And i believe my method has the fix.

On the bottom side of the laptop, unscrew the door to access the CPU Fan....(closest to the power supply)
Make sure the system is OFF and not plugged in or no battery in.

You will see 2 tabs on the copper heat sync that holds it down to the cpu.
Unscrew both the visible tabs.
Bend Both Tabs upward to where when you screw it back down there will be resistance.
What that will do is secure the heatsync to the die of the CPU.

replace the CPU door, and start her up.
Hope this helps ya'll
