That is a pretty old PC to be upgrading, but a new video card might help a bit for video viewing. Im assuming that it has either only PCI or maybe a 1st gen AGP slot. You would need to open it and find out. Iff all the slots look exactly the same its PCI if the top one is different or even darker brown in color its AGP. now dont get the regualr PCI mixed up with PCI-E (pci-express16x) those will not fix and they are what is mainstream right now in the video card market.
I'd suggest looking on eBay or other online retailers to find a PCI oe AGP card.
I have a feeling that you have not installed the drivers for the card, hence you cannot use the higher resolutions. Install the driver from the CD provided and then you will have access to all resolutions.Download the driver from if you donot have the cd.
The card you are looking for is a
NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64, it´s an agp 4x card, ussually with 32 or 64 mb of video ram.
So basically you are looking for an AGP 4X card. If you don´t want to mess with drivers, look for an Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64 with 32 or 64 mb of video ram. You can also look for any other agp 4x but make sure the connector (Bellow the black square) has the same shape and golden parts.
Ebay would be ussually the easiest, and ussually the cheapiest on this card.
Good luck getting a replacement!!
I did a little research for you and found you are not alone in having this problem. It appears this issue arises from the use of the newer drivers. Try an older version driver, making sure to first remove the previously installed driver, until you find one that works. Here is a link i found where the user reports success.
Windows 9x/Me:
ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/45.23/4...n9x_english.exe
And finally, from http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/showthread.php?t=2503&page=2 , a user reports this (for WinXP):
"I was able to download a driver for the NVidia TNT2 from the NVIDIA website, but you have to go to the frequently asked questions (FAQ) section to get the link to the driver that works for the TNT2. Here is the link:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_66.93.html
The driver is from November 1994. It will, among other things, provide a host of resolutions, including the previously un-available 1068 x 1050 required for 22" widescreen monitors.
Hope this helps. Good luck!"
Good Luck!
I lost the Installer of my video card, TNT2 M64 AGP 32mb, I need to download the Driver
