Make sure you have the cables connected correctly from the playstation to the VCR.
Yellow colour is Video output from playsation to Video input on VCR.
To get the audio from the playstation to the VCR just match the colours of the RCA connections.
Do not forget to select video input on the VCR as well.
Good Luck.

The sound on my Panasonic pv-4611 fades in and out while watching tapes. Doesn't matter whether they are factory or recorded ones by myself. Why?

This sounds like the Hi-Fi sound dropping out. It's mostly caused by dirt on the main video head. You need to clean it with either Servisol Video 40 or a head cleaning tape.

Problems hooking a PS1 to a Panasonic 42" tv

your vcr has the yellow, white, and red (RCA) ports but your playstation will not. you have to buy an addapter cable to go from playstation to vcr. http://www.gocybershop.ca/customer/product.php?productid=133&cat=163
btw on your vcr the RCA inputs are not colored (if you have the one in the picture. but just as a guide, yellow=video, red=right(R), white=left(L).

Hooking up a Playstation1

with everything you have you may wish to use a switcher box. this way you can have multiple devices running through one set of ports on your tv and swap them out at the touch of a button. something like this. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2737918    i use this hdmi one but there are others for HD and AV. hope this helps you out!

First, have you doublechecked the video hookup? It sounds like you are using the video/audio inputs to the TV, so make sure you have VCR video out cabled to TV video input, and the TV source/input selection set to that input (video 1 etc.). If this checks out, check for a dirty video head on the VCR, though a dirty head usually results in a blank or blue video display (older VCRs, snow). You could do a process of elimination by hooking VCR to a different TV and see what is displayed then. Lastly, I assume you've tried multiple tapes, just in case a home recorded tape was incorrectly recorded?

Do you hear sound? if you dont then the TVs not set to the proper input or channel . Is the VCR hooked up the way it always was or did you just install it? If you didnt then if you here sound then the heads are dirty or theres a problem in the video section of the VCR answer these few questions and Im sure we can get this thing going or at least find out the problem.
