Go to KMart and by the Daisy BB gun sight, same thing for $14. Get a copy of The NexStar User's Guide by Michael Swanson. Best $20 buck accessory you can find.

Cannot align Finderscope to target object

It can take some time to get this correct. Make sure the mounts to the finderscope are correctly attached. I loosened all the screws and started over a few times. I use it in it landscape mode (so my motor doesn't keep moving) and target a knot on a nearby fence or a neighbors chimney. Once you have something close aligned, you'll likely need to tweek it when you get to things farther away.

Discoverer model 78-1600, broken at zoom ring. Is this repairable where live in St Augustine fl. scope dropped broken in two pieces at the back of the focus control ring

Doubtful that this can be repaired economically, unless you can do it yourself with glue or some sort of metal band that could be tightened around the brokenb pieces.

Why not just buy another scope.

Celestron 114EQ polar setting and Equatorial settings

The ALTITUDE adjustment matches your LATITUDE. I live at 32.5 degrees North latitude. So the scope is first adjusted to 32.5 degrees UP.

Then the Right Ascension is point to Polaris the North star by MOVING the entire scope and mount.

Read my Equatorial mount TIP on my profile page, and read this web site.

I need a operating manual for a B&L criterion 400 telescope. Where can I find one in Toronto, Canada

This scope is no longer made. However I have seen people get a "scanned" manual on the www.cloudynights.com member forum. Register, it's free, and post your request in the appropriate discussion forum.

BROKEN MOUNT

WITHOUT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT AND WHERE THE BREAK IS, HERE IS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION. EPOXY IS AN EXTREAMLY GOOD BONDING AGENT FOR PUTTING TWO PIECES BACK TOGTHER, SECURELY. AN EPOXY PRODUCT CALLED "J-B WELD" WHICH COMES IN TWO [2] SMALL TUBES BOUGHT LOCALLY AT HARDWARE STORES CAN BE USED TO BOND THE TWO BROKEN PIECES BACK TOGETHER...FOREVER. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR MIXING, APPLY TO PIECES, CLAMP TOGETHER PIECES AND LET LET OVERNIGHT. WIPE OFF/CLEAN EXCESS EPOXY BEFORE IT SETS UP. THE NEXT DAY, DRESS UP THE AREA AS NEEDED FOR LOOKS AND OR FUNCTION. HOPE THIS HELPS.
