I went in to change the boot seq. I disabled the mother board, now the mother board is not reconizing the montor, so it won't allow me to boot up windows with my disk what do I need to do? Thanks Ziggy
Don't panic. If you take the cover off the side of the computer and look at the motherboard you will find a jumper that says cmos. You can switch the jumper and wait a minute or so then switch it back and it will boot up its defaults. If you cant find the jumper just take the battery out of the motherboard and wait a couple minutes and then put it back in. that will do the same thing and it should boot up fine.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

First please try to connect this hard drive to other computer and check if it working fine there or not. Then, take your decision of purchasing a new hard drive. It could be an issue with the connecting point between hard drive and mother board.
Try booting in VGA mode to disable the Nvidia drivers, see if this works ( also try safe mode) Try connecting to an external monitor, see if lines vanish
If the problem goes away in vga mode, Nvidia drivers are the problem If the problem remains on the external montor, the issue is with the graphics chip If it vanishes using an external, issue is with the screen being damaged or vga cable damaged
from my exp recovery CD is of no use at all....if ur OS is corrupted.....use a WinXP install CD and boot from that. to do that...insert the CD in the CD/dvd drive and switch on...if the boot seq in BIOS is set to CD drive then it will boot first from that else it will boot from HD...so if u can get into BIOS by pressing the F1/F2/Del key etc and change the boot seq to the foll:
1st boot CD rom
2nd boot Floppy
3rd boot HDD0
u can even just disable 2nd and 3rd apart from keeping 1st boot to CD rom
if u have more than one HD or more than one partition in ur HD then u can install a new fresh Win XP in that and once that's done then change the boot seq back to HDD0 from CDROM drive in the 1st boot order
it will get back ur machine live then u can copy all ur imp files to a pen drive or CD then once u r safe of ur data u can do a low level format of the full HD and then aprtition that as per ur requirment
Unless you love this computer you have to take this mother board to the manufactuer for componant repair.
Could be anything. Diode issue or transister unless you have the schematics for this item you can fix it your self and test, however if you don't love this mother board as you do... might just have to replace the mother board
When the Computer is off install the AGP card and put it together next start the computer when it starts up hit Del key before it boots up go into bios go to devices and disable onboard video, then hit F10 say yes to save changes and reboot it will then detect the card and will ask for drivers for the card. Be sure you read the directions for the video card You may have to install the drivers first, since you did not mention the card brand names and what mother board you have. Asus has many mother boards.
Hi, dont loose faith.
If you look on your mother board along the edge closest to the front of the case you will see a series of pins, usualy about 10 pins.
Printed on the board will be the names of the plugs that match. The wires from the front of the case have corresponding names.
The power and reset switch will work no matter witch way around you put them.
The HDD led and the pwr led will only work one way so if these lights dont work, just reverce the plugs. If desperate you can bridge two pins together at a time until you get the on/off switch. Note you cant hurt anything unless you use a hammer.
