Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop
Just bought this Acer 5570Z off eBay. The Laptop is in brand new condition and working well. However, it did not come with a battery, so I bought a brand new replacement battery for it. After charging the battery for 5 or 6 hours, it seems as though windows does not recognize it. If I unplug the AC adapter, the battery icon appears in the task bar as a fully charged battery, but it reads that the percentage of life left is unknown and then the laptop shuts off. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Is there a driver or something I need in order for windows to recognize the bttery? I am running windows XP SP2 and all else is fine and dandy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
To break in a battery for Acer, you have to charge it up, then let it run down completely 3 times! The battery only has a 300 recharge life, so you must never leave it in your Acer when you are plugged in. Use it only when you need a battery, then take it out. Be sure to use it set for battery use, with minimum drain. only recharge it after it is exhausted. It sounds to me as if you bought a bum battery.. Call them, and ask for a replacement.
