Question about Frigidaire FLEB8200DS Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer

Dryer Doesn't Dry Well: Take two full drying cycles.

I had a repair guy out to fix the problem. He verified the dryer is getting up to the right temperature, but this still did not fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

I did not install it. Is there anything regarding the installation that might cause the problem? The vent goes down through the floor to the basement, then to the outside from there.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. This proved that the problem was venting and you put me on the right track. I've read up on how to properly vent dryers and will be changing how this one is currently vented.

    Thanks again for the help.

I replaced the thermal fuse in the back two times and it dried the clothes for a few times. Now my dryer only gets hot every now and again. I can't figure out what to do.

If at all possible disconnect vent from behind machine and run a cycle with wet clothes( lint and moisture will be fllying around whih is why i said if possible) if it works then you know there a restriction in vent line leaving the home. Most problems relate to poor/ innadequate venting!!!!!!

We have Frigidaire stackable GLET1031CS0 in three of our rental properties. The homes are new. We had the same problem. The venting in the homes were within specs for this unit. After MANY hours with Frigidaire and their repair people, we finally threatened legal action. One of the main engineers with Frigidaire called our builder. He suggested using NON-FLEXIBLE venting from the dryer to the wall. Something about back draft. IT WORKED!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!

Tip

How to receive the best dryer repair help on FixYa

There are a couple of things that you should include in your dryer repair question so you receive the quickest and most accurate answers.

1. Model Number

The model number can be located on the model/serial number tag that is located on the dryer.

Make sure you get the full model number from this tag and not the model number from the owners manual.

The model number from the owners manual only includes the first few digits of the full model number because they include that owners manual with many similar models of dryers.

With the full model number I'm able to look up factory service manuals, tech sheets, wiring diagrams, factory service pointers and so much more.

2. Detailed description of the problem

At the very least give a brief description of the problem you are having with your dryer.

Descriptions like 'My dryer don't work' is not very helpful.

Describe what is not working. For example is the not heating? Maybe the dryer is heating, but takes a long time to dry?

The more details you can give the better. Instead of saying 'The dryer is heating, but takes a long time to dry' you could go into more detail and say something like...

"I put a load of cloths in my dryer and set it on the auto dry cycle. When I went to take them out two hours later the dryer was still running. The cloths were still a bit damp too. Most of the time I can dry a load of cloths this size in one hour. Why is my dryer taking so long to dry?"

Following these couple tips can help you get a faster and more accurate reply to your dryer repair question.

Dryer takes 2 or 3 cycles to dry

A Whirlpool dryer either heats or doesn't heat . This problem is an indication of a blocked vent hose , from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent outlet . Try removing the vent hose from the back of the dryer and dry a load , to verify this problem . Wet lint inside the hose also means the air cannot escape to the outside .

sounds like an air flow problem meaning the dryer is not exhausting the hot air. Best way to check is to disconnect exhaust tubing from dryer and run a cycle. If the clothes dry normally the vent to the outside is plugged. Hope this helps

Laundry not getting dry

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

My dryer takes 3-4 full drying cycles to completely dry.

Since you do have some drying hapening, it is probably a lack of total heat.
Most all dryers have 2 heating elements. One for low heat and both for hi heat. Sounds like you lost one of the elements.

On electric dryers, look for:

1. Safety device has tripped and not reset or has malfunctioned.

2. An element has burnt out. Or a wire to the element has fell off or burnt off due to loose connection.

3. Exhaust system is clogged or restricted, causing safety to active. This stops the heating process. (Don't forget the internals of the unit being clogged too.)

4. Not getting full power to the unit. Reset breaker and verify that full power is to the unit.
(Usually somewhere between 208 to 240 volts, depending on where you are at and the manufacturer of the machine.)

5. Timer has malfunctioned and needs replacement. This does effect power to the elements.

Check these out and let me know how you come out.
Please keep in mind that there is the possibility that a new unit may be cheaper than repairing the one you have. New units have warnanties too.
Choose wisely grasshopper. And Good Luck on your getting it going.
