Just remove the card from your camera. Then make sure you already back up or copy the content on the safe place, i.e your HDD computer and burn to DVD. Then using card reader plug it to your computer and format it using computer. After that plug back to camera and then re-format using camera's menu. The first way is trying to delete/format tyour card that might corrupt. Then the second format is trying to create necessary folder for your camera to use

I have a kodak easy share C315 the message keeps telling me to reformat the memory card, I say ok and then it gives me an error. I tried to reformat in the computer but I don;t know how. The memory card is...

Maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity a camera will use, as today's memory cards are much larger that those available when the manual for the camera was written.

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible. If the card you are trying to format is above 2GB, it will be an SDHC card.

I just bought a new sd memory card for my Kodak c315 and it will not format.

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume it was a SD/SDHC mismatch.

My Kodak EasyShare C315 needs formatting.

For all the camera users whose cameras won't format...they can't accept all the info on a 2 gb memory card... install a 1 gb card...worked like a charm for me! C315 and others were made before the 2 gb card. Only 1 gb cards work in the older cameras.

Memory Card Requires Formatting

Hey B418,
Formatting will delete all your pictures on your camera or memory card. The camera might be prompting you to format because the the camera's memory is full. To avoid losing your pictures I would connect your camera to a computer, download your images to your computer first, and then format the memory.

Sincerely,
Allan
