Question about Kodak EasyShare C653 Digital Camera

The lens keep retracting everytime I turn on my camera...

Alright, so sometimes my camera doesn't do this, but of course when it's something important to me, my camera becomes a big jerk. A lot of times when I turn on my camera it will come on but then the lens will retract over and over again. It never turns off, but it keeps me from taking pictures. I've only had this camera for a few months, and it started doing it not long after I got it. Bummer.

Maybe the battery is low OR your press the button the turns the camera into the on you have to manual look through. The button should be at th e top left it looks like a screen, when pressed like 4 times the screen goes black. I'm not a expert but maybe this will help

Lens on my S7000 doesn't retract when switched off - now permanently extended - and camera dead

This is going to require service / repair at the shop, not something you will be able to correct.

If i on the camera the lens won't work properly and message that turn off the camera and turn on again

Hi there:
If the camera has recently been dropped it may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. There are a number of ways with which a lens error can be caused. Particulates might have managed to get into the mechanical bits that allow the lens to retract, a purely physical interference with the lens mechanism. If the camera was dropped, especially while the lens was extended, there's a pretty good chance something might have been knocked loose, such as the guide pins upon which the lens withdraws and retracts.

Additional details could find in this article link: fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Lense doesn't retract

Common faults for this:

The lens motor is defective, lens gears jammed. Fix is lens unit replacement.

The lens servo drive circuit is not functioning. Fix is to replace the circuit board that contains the lens servo control circuits.

The connector assembly between the lens is not making proper contact, or the lens wire assembly is defective. Fix is replacement of the cable and connectors if applicable in the particular model. If the connectors on the circuit board or lens are defective, then the appropriate unit must be replaced.

No power is going to the lens unit, and or the lens servo circuit. Fix is replacement of the drive circuit board, or the power inverter if it uses a separate feed for the lens only.

Generally, with these low cost cameras they generally do not pay to service out of warranty. The service cost can approach the cost of replacing the camera.

Common causes of failures in these cameras is from water (getting wet), or dropping, or rough usage.

The lens is stuck in the out or on position. Everytime I power it on it just buzzes and lens will not retract

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

I turn camera on. Lens comes out. beep 3 times. turns off.

Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second, the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off. The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old. HELPP :(

Zoom lens won't retract

Usually down to the lens block assy being faulty. Is the lens retracting and opening properly?.It usually turns out to be worn gears in the lens drive assy or the result of a fall.Either way will be expensive repair! My advise is check and see whether camera is covered by insurance for accidental knocks.,

Power problem with 450

The LCD goes dark after the camera has been inactive for a time, to save battery. When that happens, you can easily restore the LCD display by half-pressing the shutter. If you want to, you can turn this off by selecting menu-setup-SleepTimeout and turn it off. (I don't recommend it, though, as the LCD always on will drain your battery).
