I think my 94 yr old mom pressed one of the wrong buttons on the hand control,,,We have Dish network , the picture on her T/V is squished in on both sides and does not fill the screen. Her T/V was ok yesterday, and my set is ok and does not have the issue. I think that it is not a Dish problem.

It is probably not a problem with signal coming into the TV but the TV aspect ratio is set to 4:3 or auto if the prblem is only there on some channels

See if there is a button on the Remote control for the TV that says format...it will change the picture size

Grandchildren put in video now cant get signal back on tv

To whom it may concern,

At the top right hand side of your remote press the "tv" button, then underneath that is an "input" button. Press this slowly until you find picture.

If this doesn't work, look on the side of the tv for a button labeled "input" or "source". Keep pressing that until you find picture, as an alternative to using the remote.

I pressed the buttons on the side of the tv and now i cannot get a picture

It's probably the input. Use the input or source button to change the input to the one corresponding to your receiver (don't know? check the back of your DISH remote or try them all!) Most TVs will change the input to the old TV (ch 3, etc) when you hit the channel up or down button or if you hit input or source, so it only takes a small brush with the wrong button to ruin your night.

  • Teach Learning Commands
  • Receivers: 222k and 722k
    1. Ensure the DISH Network remote control is programmed to the desired remote address to operate the DISH Receiver.
    2. Place both the DISH Network remote and the original equipment's remote control on a flat, stable surface.
    3. On the DISH Network remote, press and hold the mode button for your equipment for about three seconds until all of the mode buttons light up, and then release it. Your selected mode button will blink.
    4. Select the type of learning you wish to perform:
      • Hybrid Mode
        1. Press and release RECALL, then hold the RECORD button for about three seconds until the mode button is lit again. The button remains lit while learning.
        2. Point the front of the original equipment's remote to face the small square (IR window) on the front left-hand side of DISH's remote. Remotes must be within 4 inches of each other.
        3. On the DISH Network remote, press the button you want to teach.

The tv is jammed. Remote is fine but have pressed the wrong button

It sounds as though you might have just accidentally pressed a button and changed the remote into an incorrect mode for example, tv, or aux modes. This would in fact prevent the remote from successfully working with the DISH Network receiver. If this is in fact the problem, then the remote simply needs to be put into "SAT" mode, once its back in SAT mode you will then be able to change channels, select menu, power receiver on and off, etc. The "SAT" button is labeled & in the upper left hand corner of the remote to put the remote back in satellite mode, please just press that SAT once and then release, the SAT button should briefly light up red & then the light will go out, you should then be able to use the remote again, to ensure remote was successfully changed back to SAT mode, you can press select or any other button you chose & as long as the SAT button lights up when you press another remote control button- then your all set to go & everything should be working once again! I hope this helps -please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

Pushed wrong button now cannot change channels

Hello there this is Kimberly Escobar with DISH Network, just ran across your post and would like to help by providing you the information you need to help get the issue resolved. If a wrong button was pressed on the remote control the most important thing to check is that the remote is on SAT mode. You can verify this by pressing any button on the remote, if the SAT button is not the one lighting up at the top then the remote control is not on the correct mode you would need to press the SAT button then try the functions on the remote. In case that doesn't work you can try programing the remote to the receiver again this link should be very helpful http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-control helps you troubleshoot your remote. Have 8 yr old Orion tv-new remote control for satilite Dish network wont turn tv on--need to know what orion tv codes are.we tried everything tech said to do ,need to know what orion tv codes are..lost the...

We would be happy to help you with getting your new DISH Network remote to control your TV. We're going to start by pressing and holding the TV button located on the top of your remote until all mode button back lights come on, and then release. Use the number buttons to enter the codes for your Orion TV; here are some of the codes we currently have for it: 720, 748, 748, and 748. Press the pound (#) button. To check that the code works try several different functions on the remote to make sure it will properly operate the TV. Remember that some codes may not be compatible with your equipment. If this is the case, try the other codes listed for your Orion TV until you find one that is compatible with it.

We hope this helps and thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer!

Need Dish DVR ViP722 remote code.

If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.
