Receive on winfax

Am able to fax but cannot receive

I'm able to send single and multiple page faxes including scanned images from winfax pro 10.2. When receiving, it would ring and not answer, then on the next incoming fax, it would receive. Now it either rings without answering or freezes during the incoming transmission. Symantec no longer supports this discontinued product. Already tried there. The steps I've taken to attempt resolving the problem are pretty general like: deleting temp files, defrag, Norton systemworks, running spybot. No luck.

Try FaxTalkPro. It imports WinfaxPro phonebooks and files, and the interface is very similar to WinfaxPro. The link to the trial version is:

The internet connection that you use doesn't matter with WinFax, since WinFax requires a fax modem to send and receive faxes. You cannotuse your broadband modem to send receive faxes with WinFax PRO. http://www.getfaxing.com/forums

We cannot receive any faxes and get the error '

We've seen this error many times, and in most cases the problem is due to mismanagement of the send and receive logs. You probably have way too many faxes in your Receive Log (or, some corruption) You should read this

I give up. I have winfax software on this machine, but I am new at the job. Please can you help me link my fax to the winfax software? I am not able to send faxes as I think you actually have to be...

You need to setup a fax modem to be able to send and receive faxes with WinFax.

In WinFax, click on Tools, Setup.
Click on Modems & Communications Devices.
Here you can configure your fax device.

You need a fax modem, a DSL modem or a cable modem is not a fax modem.

I suggest you read this:

Do you have a fax modem? A "DSL" modem does not work.

Restoring sent and received faxes to fax logs

That's not the way to backup your logs. You copied only the fax images, and not the logs to go with them. This is a common error that is made quite often. Unless you have the original log structure, your data (logs) that link to the actual fax images (fxds, fxrs, etc.) are lost.

One line two Devices

WinFax will support two modems, but I believe only one ISDN device. So, you can't use both ISDN and analog fax modem at the same time.

Receive fax on the fax system as well as your PC

If you change the number of rings on the fax machine to more than on your PC, your PC should receive the fax first and accomplish your goal.

Winfax pro suddenly faxing to wrong number

you have some options, so choose one.
  1. remove your fax
  2. configure your fax to answer later (maybe after ringing 10 times) and configure the winfax to answer before (something like ringing 5 times or less)
the problem here is that the fax answer and start receiving the fax and the winfax receive the fax signal at same time. check the winfax maybe you have the half part that the fax modem not has printed stored in winfax, maybe.

as I said, your better choice is removing the fax modem. even configuring like I said before, maybe the two continue to try to receive the fax at same time.

hope it helps.

Received fax is incomplete

You may have a problem with the print spooling or cache. A fax being a picture takes a lot more memory and is not compress the same way other pictures are. Many printers, especially inkjet aren't really setup with a lot of ram.

I suggest you go to the manufacturers website and look up their customer support, FAQ's and community. You will find you are not the first one with this problem, and there will be suggested resolutions.
