I have a Whirlpool Gold Accubake gas range (Model GS440LEMQ, serial # RR1511795) that is about 3.5 years old. I have been getting a PF code in the middle of baking (it happens at any temperature, not just high heat). It only happens occasionally, but has been happening more frequently as of late. If I don't stand right there, I have no idea when it happens. I can turn the oven on right away again, but depending on the last time I checked on it, I may have to preheat it all over again. It doesn't pop a circuit or anything, it just shuts itself off. I called in a repair guy from our gas company (we have their service plan), and he had never heard of this problem. He didn't even open his toolbox to investigate. He said he would call his parts guy and see if he has heard of anything like this and left within minutes of getting to my house.
What is the problem and how do I get it fixed? Thank you in advance!

Re: Power Failure in gas range during use
Sounds like a power issue for sure, check your outlet that its plug into(run an extension from another outlet to be sure), perhaps a loose wire on control board behind unit. PF is inicator that power failure has occured. check your manual oerhaps a 5 year warr on electronics(might be a short in clock itself)

HI. These codes are an indication of oven temperature sensor failure. The sensor is damaged. This will not allow for proper operations. The affected part must be replaced, asap.
The sensor is, generally, located inside the oven, mounted on the back wall, on the top right, or left corner. It will look like a 4 inch long slender probe. There will be two screws holding the housing on the back of the oven wall. Once the screws are removed, the sensor will need to be extracted from the back side of the unit.
On this website: http://www.repairclinic.com/0078.asp#Whirlpool , it shows all of the codes for the Whirlpool errors. Based on the remarks, if it shows a "4 digit failure code" it is "Shorted
Range Control/Clock (ERC)"
But verify this as I am not an appliance repair specialist. I am a computer nerd who just knows how to find information. I am actually trying to figure out an answer to my own problem with my Whirlpool Gold Accubake.
