You need the game to use the emulator. Also understand you need a powerful computer to run these games on your computer.
From what I have seen, people have had problems with either DLC or something simple as your character having symbols or tattoos. Apparently, if you and the person you are playing don't have all of the same DLC, you won't be able to play that person online. I hope this helps.
