Toshiba TP50H95 TV Won't turn on - Pete

Toshiba TP50H95 cinema series TV when turn on, will click twice and then red light next to power button will flash continously on and off. TV was working fine and is almost 10 years old.

Picture was fine and had no problem until when it was turned on there was no sound or picture.

Please let me know what to do to fix it or buy a new one.

Thanks,

Pete

Television will not power up after shut down. There are two clicks and the red light in front blinks. Generally if i would wiggle the power cord it will correct the problem, but recently that has not helped. I suspect a problem with the power cord. Can I find a replacement for Toshiba model # tp50h95

Over last three weeks, few times the picture on my TV will pull to middle of the screen and then disappear. Just like a black hole. There were some red boarders around the disappearing picture.

Today, when I went to turn on the TV, the relay click, red power LED came on for couple of minutes, then it start blinking at 1 flash per sec rate.

Any idea where to start with troubleshooting this TV? I have read few comments regarding blown fuses or replacing ICs on power board.

You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?

Our tv is 10 years old toshiba cinema series it has blue and red

It will be 11 years next month that I've had my Toshiba 55H55 Cinema Series and have the same problem every now and then, if you haven't already done so, go to the picture settings and scrolling down to conversion and it will take you through 3 steps of adjustments, there is a white cross in the middle of the screen line up the red first and then the blue, it will then take you to a screen with numbers, ID the clearest number and exit out, you should have a clear picture again. I hope this helps.

Do you know how to work my dvd with my toshiba t.v Remote its a Toshiba CT-877

You can find the remote control codes for difrent brands of devices from
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/codes-vcr.shtml#dvd

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash radidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

More help for programing your remote can be found here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/ofa-l.shtml?URC-7800#device
