Question about Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Head Cleaning My Epson Photo R300 sat idel for an extended period! I had all the cartridges out during this time. I just put in all new cartrideges and ran the head cleaning option many...many times and I still don not have the Black to full printing and the Magenta is not even showing up yet. I ran the "Head Cleaning" and "Nozzle Check" so many times that I am almost out of ink already!!! Is there something I can do to get this printer up and running to full capacity?

I have the same problem, only my black will not print at all and the cyan is barely printing. My printer was without ink for only a month or two. Any solutions?

I seldom use this printer, just installed all new cartridges and the printing is very ragged looking. Have run the head cleaning and nozzle print many times to no avail.

I have an epson R300 and havent used it in a couple of years. I ran out last night and bought all new ink. (Epson brand). The pictures look like **** on Epson Premium Glossy paper. Is it possible that paper gets old? I have heard that. What else can i do? I really want to get up and printing pictures. When printing on regular paper, the picture is fine. (Not that you would want to use this as your picture, but it isnt all streaky.

First try a print head cleaning cycle. You may have to run it a few times to correct the color problems you have. I doubt you need to fully re-prime the system.

How to install new cartridge

Make sure the printer is on and not printing. Have a new cartridge handy, as this installation should be done in one session.

Note if the "cartridge is low" or the "cartridge is empty" light is activated on the printer and follow the specific instructions carefully in the document below for each situation.

See "Removing and Installing Ink Cartridges" in the following document:

Epson Stylus Photo R300 sounds like it's printing

I know there are some cleaning cartridges with a chemical thinner that could clean any ink residual that could interfere with proper function of the printing head.
If this doesn't work you probably have to replace the head.
Check also the flat cable that follows the printing head during movement.

Epson r300 - banding problems on print out

Nozzle check is fine? I am not sure. Check again. There is transverse and vertical lines. Is it perfect? Turn off printer, move head to center, put wet tissue with hot water at head cleaning mech. (pad). move head to parking position, wait for 15 minutes, repeat for 3 times. Check nozzle.

R300 - quality terrible and no status monitor

If you're getting gaps in the nozzle checks and cleaning isn't resolving it, it is possible a nozzle is blocked with dried ink. You can get cleaning cartridges which contain a solvent that disolves the clogged ink.
I'll not suggest any brands, but talk to your local friendly computer shop, or do a search. Something like epson r300 cleaning cartridge should work.
When you say the status monitor is greyed out, is this on the computer or the printer? And I'd hope you're not using HP inks... It's an Epson printer ;) But on a serious note, I've not yet had any problems using non-Epson inks.

Cleaning the heads on a Epson Photo R300

the heads are removable if you remove the back plastic cartridge holder first with pointed pliers then there are two screws at base accessable with printer intackted. you only have to set the carrage to cartridge change position to do this. once removed use a rubber tube on a cyringe filled with water and blow jets through several times and replace as removed....
