Yes, I've seen the ballast bad after a lamp shorts out. It takes out a 1K resistor out in ballast. If original lamp blew up this could be your issue

Blue light flashing

Possibly the power board or the sustain board has died.
Power board failure does not stop the blue light from working as this is an LED on voltage side of power transformer. The set fails because it has detected a voltage difference in one o0f the other boards that controls the initial starup and convergence. Some transistors and capacitors are also possibly involved. Not a dIY unless you are skilled. Parts $300 labour ?
but about $400
If you are a DIY get a kit from this site, complete with step by step instructions This is an LCD rear projection set.The yellow blob may be from the drivers to the LCD display, dirt or object on the projection mechanism, stain on the mirrors or lamp; bad projection lamp - among others. If you are handy, get inside the set and see if you can observe any of the items mentioned above.

TV WILL NOT TURN OFF

Greeting inmiltown,

It sounds like your approaching the end of your lamp's life. Most projection televisions have internal lamp timers. These lamp timers usually give you time to buy a new bulb before it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.
