Panasonic Rear Projection TV - PT-47WXC43G Convergence Problem

I can't adjust the convergence on my tv. The picture is very distorted and there is alot of red color in the picture. I took the back cover off and covered the Red CRT and the picture quality looks alot better but minus some of the color. Should I replace the Red CRT myself or have it tested and repaired by a TV repair shop? Any advice would be helpful.

I replaced both the STK 392-110 IC's and checked the adjacent resistors. The resistors were all within tolerance but when I turn on the TV it powered up momentarily then shutdown on its own. The power light is blinking. What should I check next?

I have the same problem, I replaced the convergence amps on my PT-51HX41E -- STK392-150s. This fixed the convergence problems, and the picture looks great but, it shuts off after about 20 minutes. I hit the power button on the remote and it blinks 3 times. If I let the tv cool down, unplug it from the wall and plug it in again, I get about another 20 minutes.

I've tried resoldering the ICs but I have the same problem.

Did you find a solution to yours ? Or does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be ?

    Thanks

The tube should be ok its the IC's regulating the convergence is your problem . A tv repairman should be able to repair it fro around $250.00 - $300.00 or less depending on who you call. Good luck

Solution # 2 is correct. I had the same exact problem and did a lot of reading on regulating of the convergence. I fixed it myself though. When you turn the tv on go to convergence 1 and when the green is on the screen make sure this is centered like a + sign. Then exit the menu, you must wait about a half hour. Hopefully your tv will stay on this time, it did for me. Then go back into setup convenience 1 and don't mess with the green cross anymore hit the action key and go to the red and blue to match up with the green. Then go to convergence 2 and fix the red and blue crosses to match up with the green to make them white. Hopefully this solves your problem it did for me a 41 year old mom. All these websites on telling how to fix the stk's forget to tell you not to mess with the green big plus sign. I read in the manual where it says never mess with this in convergence1. Anyways hope it works for you!!

It's either your Convergence IC's or the Resistors associated with them. Here is a good write up on how to fix it and pictures to compare your problem to. BE CAREFULL! TV's carry A LOT OF POWER, and can KILL YOU. It's can be fixed by someone that has never done this before, but read read read about TV safety first.

If you got it fixed by a pro. expect to pay around $400.

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

You probably need to change out the semiconductors. The parts are STK392-110. There are two of them, one for horizontal and one for vertical. Search it online more.
