Replace your battery or use a known good battery from a friends psp. That's a good place to start. Start at the power source first and work your way through the system eliminating the hardware parts as you go. PSP is very touchy so be careful not to brick it.

go to radioshack or some other electronics repair shop, and get an 1/8 inch stereo headphone jack. now you have to open the case of the PSP, an look at the main circuit board. undo the 4 or 5 solder joints in the main vicinity of the Old Jack. once the jack is loose, take it out and replace it with the new one in the exact same place. Now carefully re solder all of the joints being careful not to get any solder on the board, as this will ruin the entire system. Now close everything back up, and you should be good to go.

I have just received the psp-1001 from a friend, the battery is fully charged but it won't turn on, is it a lost cause?

Better bring it first to some PSP tech to verify the problem of the board, some micro fuses might have blown.
It takes some soldering to replace it
Hope that helps you!

Psp won't turn on. got new battery.

Did you try to use the charger and turn on the PSP? If you use the charger and the psp turned on, the problem would still be the battery, you bought a defective one and have it returned where you bought it. If it did not turned on using the charger, the problem would be internal, a micro fuse might have blown up and needs to be replace. An experience technician in PSP could replace it, because it needs to use soldering.
Hope that helps you out!

Hi my tv fell off the wall last night about three feet to the carpet now it won't turn on the amber vizio light won't even come on when I plug it in. I took it apart and nothing appears to be...

After a fall like this (even on carpet) it probably has a cracked circuit board or a loose connector, first (since you took it apart any way) look for all connectors, than unplug them and re-plug them to make sure all plugs and boards are seated correctly, if you still don't have luck, than take out all the circuit boards and check them for cracks under a good lamp and magnifying lens, than repair the cracked traces with a good soldering gun by scratching off the varnish coating and applying solder. (if the crack is to wide you can solder a peace of coper wire to the trace on the board)

Have fun!

1993 s10, headlights not working, parking lights do. when you turn on the head light switch you can hear an audible click coming from the fire wall area. thought it may have been a bad switch put in new...

That noise is the circuit relay , once a new circuit relay is one there you can feel for a connection that has grounded out, circuir relay will make head lamps go on and off, for a S-10 you head lamp socket is to blame

Bose radio for ipod it fell off counter and is not working now took apart and everything is hooked up and looks ok will charge ipod but no sound goes throuh speakers any ideas?

Hi, yes I have an idea what might be the matter, especially if the iPod was in the cradle at the time of the accident, you probably have a couple of circuit board contacts that came loose at the point where the docking terminal meets the circuit board. Fixing this will require some pretty precise soldering and the use of a strong magnifying glass. The broken solder joints will not look quite like the unbroken ones, they may actually be up off the circuit board a bit-or where the solder turns into the green circuit path may have a crack. Either way it will require some nifty soldering as I said. To fix a crack in the green circuit trace this will require scraping a little of the green off the circuit trace ( actual color of circuit board varies slightly by manufacturer ) exposing enough of the copper to solder back across the gap to restore conductivity. This may need to be repeated several times more than likely. Also to find the cracked solder joints you may try to wiggle slightly the entire docking connector while looking at it under magnification, then you may better see the defects. I hope this was of some help, and thanks for choosing FixYa,good luck-Prodzilla.

My psp wont turn on nor charge. even when i take out the battery and plug in the AC adapter it wont turn on.

hi, your problem could be one of a couple of things now the first and most likely would be that your charger is no longer working so you need to try another charger or try your charger on someone else psp.

the second problem you could have could be that the charging port has come away from the circuit board and if this is the case then you will need to get a new charging port soldered onto your circuit board, this isnt something you can do yourself.

now the third problem you could have is that a part has over heate on the circuit board causing a bad circuit usually the part that fails is just after the charging port so this would need testing to find out the exact cause.

first thing you should try is putting another battery in and see if it will come on with a new battery or try a friends battery in yours, if it comes on then you know the problem is going to be either the charger or the charging port, if after trying another battery it still dont work then the chances are something has over heated and the circuit board will need testing and parts replaced if needed.
the problem with this is it all depends on how much the cost of repair is going to be because it could cost more than a second hand psp.

you could take it into a a computer shop and get a free quote on the cost of repair.

you need to try the battery first try and find someone else who has got a working psp and try their battery in yours and also try their charger on yours just to find out if the charger id the problem, if you try someone elses charger and it dont charge yours up then the problem is going to be the charging port or parts associated with that.

My PSP 2001 won't charge at all and i don't know if i can charge it on my computer. I have an AC adapter and it still won't charge! Any help is accepted. BTW, it's not my battery.

Well, if it's not your battery, then it has gotta be the charger, or the power supply. Most likely your Charger.

- If your PSP is still under warranty, & if the charger came with your PSP when you bought it, then you can probably ask for a replacement from SONY.
- See if anyone, friends, neighbours.. you know that has a PSP AC charger. Ask if you could use it to see if your PSP chargers.
If it works, then you gotta get a new charger.
If it doesn't, then there's a problem with your PSP!
