My solution ended up being , starting windows on my MacBook pro lap top while plugging the external modem and try to connect, then it prompts you to install a driver, I put the laptop to sleep and found a wireless connection , and as I woke the computer it installed the driver.

The phone connection would need to go through the blue tooth regardless of if you're using the phone connection or not. Check to see that you have bluetooth turned on and setup first. Then you'll need to use that to create the settings for using the phone as a modem. However, if you are using Windows on your Mac, you will need to make sure that your computer has the drivers installed to be able to both connect to the Internet and to connect to your phone. Once that is set up, you still need to go through the steps to use bluetooth to connect your phone to your computer, establishing a connection. There are quite a few articles about creating connections through your phone as a modem. http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/typesofaccessavailable/ht/bluetoothphone.htm

Imation Model D353fue not recognized by MACBook Pro

It is a "plug-and-play" USB-device, and *should* be recognized, if the hardware inside the case is in working order. So, exercise that "warranty" to get it replaced.

Try connecting it to a Windows PC (XP/Vista/7/8), to see if Windows will recognize it.

Wont recognize my SanDisk Ultra 2 memory card, wont show up on desktop of my MacBook Pro.

Is there a memory card in the multi-reader? I don't believe that OSX will place an icon on the desktop before a card is inserted in the device. Just checking the basics first. Let me know.

I was sold an Encore V.92/56K USB modem for my MacBook Pro -- will this work? And what do I do? Willard Jenkins

Is this modem?

According to the official web page of Encore (http://www.encore-usa.com), that modem only has support for Windows systems. You will need another kind of compatible device to use dial-up on your MacBook Pro. You should consider something like the AirPort M8799LL/A which has an integrated "phone" modem.

Can I use the Samsung alias 2 is an Internet modem

    Using Alias 2 as Modem
  1. The Alias 2 can, in fact, be used as an external modem to connect your computer to the Internet. To do this, the phone must plug into the computer via USB. The USB data cable specific for the phone is purchased separately and can be found at most any cellular phone store and eBay. Because USB is a powered connection, anytime the phone is plugged into the computer for use as a modem, it will also remain charging, so you don't have to worry about battery life while online.

In addition to the cable, you must subscribe to a specific service through your cellular provider in order to use the Alias 2 as a modem. This plan will be a "tethering" plan and will have a separate charge each month to use it, similar to a cell phone's data plan. By signing up for this feature, your phone will be able to dial into the data network and utilize the Internet connection as a modem, allowing any connected computer to surf the Internet. Once this feature has been activated on your account the option will become available on the phone itself to enable tethering.

At this point, you should be able to turn on tethering, connect the phone to your computer via USB cable and select the phone on your computer as an Internet connection source.

It is important to note, however, that the Alias 2 uses a different and slightly older system on the 3G cellular network. Because of this, using the phone as an external modem will produce a slightly slower Internet connection than a traditional modem or even a newer phone would. However, as a backup solution for Internet connectivity or a travel solution, the Alias 2 will work just fine as a modem for your computer or laptop.

Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.
