Question about Magic Chef MCBR440 Compact Refrigerator
I have a compact Magic Chef MCBR440 and the freezer doesn't keep ice cream cold enough to stay solid, nor ice at all.
its controls are simple yet I don't understand them:
there is a dial that goes from OFF, then 1 thru 7...so I assume that when my dial was at about 5.8 and I still wanted it colder, it seemed like a good idea to turn it to 6.5. Well, there is also a sort of button in the center of the dial. I pressed it. It went in and stayed in. It made me nervous so I pulled it back out and then I though, why not? And I pressed it back in again. Well I woke up to water everywhere. I failed to mention the freezer part could use a good defrosting--but it wasn't that bad.
What is the button for? And How do I get my refrigerator cold again? Magic Chef's website doesn't have a manual for this compact. Fridge had been working well...just won't keep ice or ice cream solid oor forzen really...i can't even keep frozen veggies or anything like that because the water in the packages won't stay frozen.
Any help much appreciated.
My daughter has an MCBR445w1, probably a similar size dorm refrigerator. It has died. I brought it home tonight to try and get it repaired. The red button in the center of the thermostat dial defrosts the unit. That's why you got the flood. On her unit, 1 is the warmest, 7 is the coldest. I'd turn it to 7 and see what happens. Keep dust off the coils if they are exposed.
I have a feeling these units are just bad refrigerators, but I will try and get hers running. Good luck with yours.
